Namco narrows Ace Combat 5 release date

Publisher's site now says its high-flying PlayStation 2 sequel is due in November.

Today, Namco announced the release date for Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War--sort of, anyway. Instead of "Fall 2004," the official Web site for the upcoming PlayStation 2 military flight simultation lists the game's release date as November 2004.

When it does finally land on store shelves, Ace Combat 5 should prove a worthy successor to Ace Combat 04, the critically acclaimed previous installment in the series. Set in the near future, the game's story mode--one of four modes in the game--will sport about 30 unique scenarios and over 50 different kinds of aircraft. Ace Combat 5's missions will feature both air-to-air combat and air-to-ground bombing sorties over land and sea.

GameSpot got a chance to take Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War on a test flight at this year's E3; check out our hands-on impressions for more on the game, which has yet to be rated.
