TOKYO - Nintendo has decided to mark down the price of Nintendo 64 hardware again in Japan. As of July, the MSRP of N64 base unit is 14,000 yen. That's 2,800 yen cheaper than previous price.

Nintendo also decided on a price for the Game Boy Color. This new handheld console's MRSP will be 8,900 yen and will be available beginning in late September.

The decision was explained at a meeting with selected wholesalers in Japan at a presentation by Nintendo. Nintendo's lowering at the price is a move to increase sales of the system in Japan, in preparation for the release of several big titles coming up later this summer.

It is not known what the actual street price of N64 will be due to this announcement. Currently the N64 is available around 15,000 to 14,000. Some might say it could go around 12,800 or an even lower price.
