Muscle March proceeds to US

Namco Bandai's bizarre bodybuilding WiiWare action game confirmed for international release this winter.

by

Back in May, Namco Bandai Games revealed a Japanese WiiWare title called Muscle March. The trailer for the game (included below) raised questions as to whether the bizarre muscle-posing downloadable action game would ever see the light of day internationally. Those questions have been answered, as Namco Bandai today confirmed that the game will arrive on the US Wii Shop Channel this coming winter.

Who needs high definition when you've got muscle definition?

Muscle March lets players select from a roster of muscle-bound meatheads (including a polar bear) and control them as they chase down a thief in possession of their prized protein supplements. The thief will not be caught easily, however, breaking through walls as he strikes one of four dramatic weight-lifting poses. Players will have to match the poses with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk if they want to follow cleanly through the walls and catch up to the protein-pilfering perpetrator.

Muscle March will also include a multiplayer mode for up to four, where gamers follow one another through a series of walls at ever-increasing speeds. For more on the game, visit the official (and equally unusual) Japanese Web site.

would you guys please stop saying nintendo needs to do more games for conventional gamers. nintendo is doing just fine at what they are dong. you should be complaining to 3rd party developers and publishers for the lack of quality games out on wii.

Why didn't they allow fatal frame? I hope they don't say it was too disturbing, or tied to japanese culture.

Things like this result when you lose a world war.

Great news! That means when Natal/Sphere is out, we can finally get our hands (see what I did there?) on the 360/PS3 version of this game.

Mother of God... This is unexpected. Not in a million years would I have expected Muscle March to leave Japan.

I just wish ninty could create a balance with the Wii by supporting the conventional gamer and the new breed of "casual" or party games. Ok they have made little attempts with cod4 and other fps games on the wii, chinatown wars on the DS but more is needed. I have to say other games such as cursed mountain or endless ocean also have caught my attention on the wii, and i would like to try them. But until there is a price drop im sticking to the ps3.

But with wii games, they can offer years of enjoyment and usage. I still wont buy a Wii, not until its at the £130 price it should of been, or even less considering the actual 10 year old hardware it uses. And unless you have a large family, children or regular social gatherings the Wii just wouldnt see much use. Nintendo have been very clever with the new direction of the Wii and DS, but their continual neglect of the true gamers that bought an n64 for goldeneye, perfect dark is shameful. With the gamecube they had a great little piece of hardware yet didnt attempt to bring the likes of GTA series, Halo type games, gran turismo type games to their own machine. Instead blindlessly hoping a poorly marketed system, without dvd playback, and mario, zelda and metroid, an fps that just isnt really a conventional fps to attract the average COD, MOH or Halo lover. And having almost always the worst of the bunch when it came to multi platform games and virtually no online option other than a short lived attempt at rejuvinating phantasy star. It was no wonder they failed with the GC.

I always didnt like the Wii, but on my first time playing one afew weeks ago I can see the appeal. I played it in a pub, the game being wii fit with a balance board. Now on playing the ski jump and hula hoop games, I finally understand why the wii is so popular. That night I saw plenty of middle aged people having a go and thoroughly enjoying it, as did everyone else that watched. The extremely simple mechanics of moving your body to lean and jump off a ski ramp or walk a tight rope or spin and catch hula hoops is great fun for pretty much anyone. Now yes, you could do the same games using a button or joystick, and they are just quick cheap thrills (although not so cheap at all when you add up the cost of the overpriced wii, games and accesories) but they do bring a tiny part of gaming to an audience that otherwise would never play a game. It may be frustrating to us real gamers to see our favourite hobby constrained to the limits of ultra basic gameplay of wii ware games, but in a way, they are onto something. I can play hours of an FPS and not crack a smile, and just mindlessly shoot enemies, my only goal is to reach the end and put the £40 disc back in its case never to be played again.

@Freezezzy I wasn't aware they were publishing the game? :? Nintendo isn't personally responsible for all the games on their systems folks, I dunno why this is so hard to understand.

The messed up thing is there are actually wii fans wanting this.... have fun with that .. lol... if games are so bad on the wii that they are looking forward to a game that looks like it may belong in a (well i just can't say) then well.. its just sad... buy a HD console already,
