MotorStorm rolls in on PSP Sept. 29

UMD edition of combative racer Arctic Edge arrives in stores late next month, downloadable version available for Oct. 1 PSP Go launch.

Sony today confirmed a release date for the PSP debut of MotorStorm, and the racing game will make landfall fittingly right around the height of hurricane season. MotorStorm Arctic Edge will arrive in stores September 29, with a downloadable version of the game held back a couple days until the October 1 launch of the UMD-less PSP Go.

The only people nuttier than ice road truckers are ice road bikers.

MotorStorm Arctic Edge takes the franchise's signature off-road racing to the frigid wastelands of Alaska. The game includes the six vehicle classes seen in previous MotorStorm installments and adds two more specifically catered to Alaska's frozen tundra: the Snowcat and the Snow Machine. Vehicles will also feature an element of customization, wherein players can equip their rides with different parts or apply decals and stickers.

Those who pick up the game within its first 30 days on sale will be able to download a free Mirage Rapide rally car with a pair of customizable skins from the PlayStation Network. A PlayStation 2 edition of the game is set to ship later this fall.

i really did like the ds more then the psp, but the psp has been coming out with so many good games of late. Ds is good, but the psp is prob just a bit ahead for me!! :p

I thought this was coming out in christmas. why do all the good games have to come out when university (and schools ect) start again. noooooooooo. @ BloodMist what u chatting about??? nothing has been ported here its made from scratch. the PS3 version is so powerful they cant port anything except the logo anyway. and according to your theory DS doesnt have anything at all either, ive played DS games years ago on N64, NES ect. its always mario and sonic. this beats mario kart anyday. @ Spartan_418 lol u must be in the less then 1% failed consoles. oh well, atleast sony wont argue until you cant be bothered to ring them anymore or take 6 months to replace it like some other company.

Yaaaay, more ports of games i can play on my console!!.Oh, the PSP is such a good-for-nothing.Not to say most racing games aren't complete copy and paste jobs but...proof has been there for about 10 years.

While these versions look great, imagine if they (in a twist of fate) ported Arctic Edge to the PS3. Imagine the gorgeous snow effects. And the frost and what not. Maybe even a highway of crossing snowmen. Not saying they won't do a good job here, but Arctic Edge would be an epic WIN on the PS3.

Funny, within an hour of this article being posted, my PS3 lasered my Motorstorm disc. Yes, it can happen on PS3 too.

I reserved this game for the PS2 since May, and soon in the fall i will be racing down the icy mountain in the online. I expect this game to look good in the PS2

Motorstorm for the PS3 obviously was gorgeous to look at, at the sacrifice of addiciting modes (modes like in PGR, Grid, etc.). Hopefully the psp has some fun minigame stuff that will make it a valuable portable purchase.

Looks pretty fun, though I wonder how well it will make the transition from console to handheld...

be a nice pick up. just hope it dont have cheating al like motorstorm 1 had. one car would go top speed . while the other 8 cars would do nothing but step on the brakes in front of you, or knock you into a wall. its really bad in the last few tickets

This game looks alright but the ones on the other consoles weren't all that great though(in my opinion). Who know maybe this could turn out ok.

Just read the PS2 version is getting split-screen, which is what makes Motorstorm the most fun in the first place. It looks like it's only 2-player split, but perhaps they'll end up making it 4 in the end. Definitely looking like a promising addition to the Motorstorm series :) PushSquare.com says it looks phenominal for a PS2 title, so I really have high hopes for this one.

@snoogans460: I'm in the same situation in that the PSP isnt getting much love due to PS3 and 360 :P and dont you mean 16GB? you cant even fit one game on 16MB :P looking forward tto this game and Assassin's Creed, they should help my old school PSP get some love again :D

Fantastic News! I had no idea that Arctic Edge was being released this soon. Thankfully, this gives me one more reason to fire-up my PSP 3000. Naturally, my little hand-held hasn't been getting the love it deserves - mainly because I'm pre-occupied with my 360 and PS3 instead. Anyhow, I'm definitely going to stick with the superior UMD PSP's, since I prefer to own a physical copy of my games. Granted, the PSP-GO looks super cool and is more ergonomically designed. However, it's way too expensive and having ONLY downloadable content is over-rated. Seriously, you'll be able to fit only a handful of Titles onto a 16 MB Card, so you'll end-up spending a fortune for extra memory in no-time.
