Mother official site opens

Nintendo has opened the official site for Mother and Mother 2 for the Game Boy Advance. The site gives a brief overview of the two games and also mentions that Mother 3 is in development for the GBA. The series is known as Earthbound in North America.

Series producer Shigesato Itoi comments on his personal site that he has a tendency to try to make his work as over-the-top as he can, which originally made the production of Mother 3 difficult, ultimately leading to the cancellation of the project. But, after play-testing Mother and Mother 2 on the GBA during their development, Shigesato decided that a less-graphic-intensive approach toward developing Mother 3 could be viable. Shigesato also says that he finds that the times are changing, and people no longer skip their job or miss sleep to play games. Shigesato hopes to make Mother 3 a game that is playable little by little each day.

Mother and Mother 2 are scheduled for release on June 20 in Japan.
