Morrowind climbs into second

Bethesda's ambitious role-playing game jumps into second place behind The Sims: Vacation on NPD's latest list of best-selling PC games.

In its first full week of release, Bethesda's ambitious fantasy role-playing game The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind jumped up to second place on NPD Techworld's latest weekly list of best-selling PC games. The game trailed Electronic Arts' virtual-life game expansion The Sims: Vacation, which remained in first place for the seventh week in a row. Dungeon Siege, Microsoft's fast-paced role-playing game, dropped one place to third, followed by Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, LucasArts' sci-fi action game, in fourth place. The best-selling PC game of all time, The Sims, slipped to fifth place from third place the week before.

The Sims: Vacation also topped NPD's list of best-selling PC games for the month of April. Dungeon Siege came in second place, followed by The Sims and Jedi Knight II in third and fourth, respectively. Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, EA's World War II first-person action game, came in fifth place for the month.
