More "Quality-Focused" Marvel Console Games Coming, But Don't Expect Them Soon

Not satisfied with Marvel's current lineup of console games?

If so, you may be happy to learn that the entertainment giant has announced plans to develop even more console games, but they may take a while to get here. That's because, the company explained today at Comic-Con, the studio is hoping to make them great--and this takes time.

During a Comic-Con panel today attended by Polygon, a fan asked Marvel Games producer Mike Jones if Marvel was actively looking for partners to make more console games. Jones responded by teasing that yes, they are, and you can expect some announcements as early as next year.

"We are very much focused on what our console strategy will be for the future," Jones said. "Obviously console games take a lot longer to incubate, so that will be a slower process for us."

Slower isn't always a bad thing, and Jones explained why.

"We are very much taking a controlled, less-is-more, quality-focused, developer-focused strategy," he said. "But it is very top of mind, and we'll have a lot more announcements probably next year."

Also during the panel, Jones pointed to Marvel's partnership with Telltale Games for a mysterious Marvel console game as just one example of the company's efforts to do more than just mobile games.

Existing Marvel mobile games include Contest of Champions, Marvel Puzzle Quest, Spider-Man Unlimited, and Mighty Heroes.

The next Marvel console game is Lego Avengers, which launches this winter for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, 3DS, and PC.
