TOKYO - Namco's new racer, R4: Ridge Racer Type 4, will come with two discs. While one disc contains R4 itself, the other, which is being called Bonus Disc, contains interesting "bonuses."

First of all, the Bonus Disc contains the original Ridge Racer. It's not known if all the elements appearing in the original game have changed, but there's at least one nice addition: The High Spec Version runs at 60fps. There's also another mode called Namco Catalogue where gamers can browse through the info on Namco's PlayStation games, official guidebooks, and peripherals. Demos on the disc include Libero Grande, Tales of Destiny, Tekken 3, and Klonoa.

Namco also revealed that R4 is compatible with the upcoming Sony PDA called the PocketStation. As you win races in R4, you'll get new cars. You can store these new cars on the PocketStation since it serves as a memory device. It can be copied to another PocketStation via its infrared port. This may be a small disappointment because it appears that using PocketStation as an alternative memory card is the only way R4 will utilize the device.
