LucasArts has released new details on its next Star Wars game, Star Wars Bounty Hunter, which will feature the character known as Jango Fett--who is also the father of Boba Fett--from Episode II. Bounty Hunter is a third-person action game in which players assume the role of Jango as he tries to track down the leader of a mysterious cult. While on his journey, Jango will have to deal with a number of thieves and villains, as well as a rival from his past.

"Because of Boba Fett's amazing legacy, Star Wars fans have been requesting a bounty hunter game from LucasArts for years," says Tom Byron, director of product marketing for LucasArts. "Star Wars Bounty Hunter will make their wait well worth it, delivering the intense, suspense-filled experience players want and expect. Like his legendary son, Jango Fett is mysterious and powerful. He's the ultimate antihero who defines much of what's cool about Star Wars."

Bounty Hunter will have 18 levels and a variety of weapons for Jango Fett to use. These include pistols, a flamethrower, missiles, and a jetpack that players will become very familiar with after the release of Episode II. Bounty Hunter also marks the first time that LucasArts sister companies Industrial Light and Magic and Skywalker Sound have helped provide content for a game. The special effects company will be providing the cutscenes for Bounty Hunter, while Skywalker Sound will create sound effects for the game.

Star Wars Bounty Hunter is scheduled for release on the GameCube and PlayStation 2 in the fall.
