Actress Karen Gillan has two major studio movies coming up this year, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Jumanji 2. Now, she's shed a little more light on both projects. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Gillan said Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 takes all the best elements of the first movie and fleshes them out further. The sequel will also dive deeper into characters from the first movie.

"In the first one everyone was being established. Now that that's out of the way, you really get to delve into all of their dilemmas and things like that," she said. "I think family would really be the main theme of the thing. And my character Nebula is dealing with a whole lot of stuff there--we see a whole new side to her. A much more human side actually, where we understand how truly awful and difficult her daddy issues are."

Gillan confirmed that Nebula is still grumpy in the sequel and viewers will finally find out why. She also teased Nebula's role in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War. "Yeah, she's making a cheeky appearance there," she said. "I don't know how much I'm allowed to say, but I'm pretty happy with how much she gets to do."

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens on May 5, 2017. Telltale Games is producing a new game based on the Marvel series and will debut sometime in 2017 for PC and console.

Also in the interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gillan addressed her character's outfit in Jumanji 2. She said costume controversy is nothing new to her and that her outfit will make sense in the context of the film.

"I've experienced something similar when I worked on Doctor Who and there was such an uproar about my costume when that was first revealed, so I thought it was happening all over again," she said. "But I have to say, I'd never take on a role that was truly gratuitous for no reason. There's a really valid reason why she's wearing that. My character is really not happy about it!"

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who stars in the Jumanji sequel, said basically the same thing last year about Gillan's costume. "Her jungle wardrobe will make sense when you know the plot. Trust me ;)" he said at the time.

Kevin Hart and Jack Black also star in the new Jumanji, which comes out in July. Jake Kasdan, the son of legendary Star Wars writer Lawrence Kasdan, is directing.
