Activision has released new details on Return to Castle Wolfenstein for the Xbox. The game will support a variety of modes, including squad-based and cooperative multiplayer modes on Xbox Live that will allow players to call in air strikes or medics using the Xbox Live communicator. There will also be a two-player split-screen mode for those who aren't able to use the Xbox Live feature.

"It's a great time to be a console gamer," said Larry Goldberg, executive vice president of Activision Worldwide Studios. "With the advanced technology of the Xbox, console players will not only be able to experience the heart-stopping action of the Return to Castle Wolfenstein single-player game, but they'll also for the first time engage in the addictive multiplayer gameplay that PC gamers and critics have been raving about."

The Xbox and PlayStation 2 versions of Return to Castle Wolfenstein are scheduled for release early next year.
