More Battlefield Hardline Footage Emerges

Check out some new footage of EA's upcoming police-themed FPS.

Gameplay footage of EA's upcoming shooter Battlefield Hardline has appeared online.

YouTube user Freddy Dancer uploaded a video containing footage in an empty server. EA has since removed the footage. According to the video, two quick match modes named Blood Money and Heist will be available. The player can choose between four "classes": operator, mechanic, enforcer, and professional.

The footage shows the player riding a police motorcycle, police squad car, and patrol helicopter. Other options shown included the armoured rescue vehicle, intervention SUV, and transport helicopter. The player also gets into and drives a fuel tanker at one point.

Gameplay starts at the 3:50 mark in the video. EA will be showcasing more Battlefield Hardline footage at next week's E3. Stay tuned for more information!

Didn't liked.

The entire game theme was changed. Battlefield was about war of nations, real soliders and war vehicles.

That appears to be inexistent in this game.

Will buy BF4 instead ^^.

Jeezus christ, anyone else have a huge square box in the way of your internet explorer when you have gamespot webpage NOT maximized? I mean seriously, I don't know whether to scream or heave my desktop out the window.. =(

Honestly, I've had my fill of the Battlefield formula so mixing it up with a spin off isn't a bad idea.

Don't fall for it guys. It's a reskinned version of BF4 with some new trinkets. And their branding of Visceral  is hilarious; yes, Visceral is making the single player game....ya know, that thing that almost no one plays. DICE is doing the multiplayer.

This alone shows that weren't willing to divert the proper resources to fixing BF4. Think of all the manpower that has taken over the last year to build this game. If you support this game, you're putting another nail in the coffin for gamers.

I'm a huge battlefield fan and I think that this entry will be another HUGE game. Instead of the same old russian or chinese enemy we actually have a realistic type situation..

ITS COPS VURSES ROBBERS... Come on it's PAYDAY2 ON CRACK..  Its payday and counterstrick and swat all mixed in.. they brought in some need for speed guys to add more dynamic to the driving.. The game is gonna destroy anything else in the genre.. and the destruction will be superb

looks like need for speed with guns. is this game fo 10 year olds??

How can you guys make a judgement on this game if the only game play was pre alpha.......would of thought real battlefield fans would look optimistically at this game and hope for the best and not complain about it......If you want to complain make your own game then of find something new like mario kart 8 or something and play that insted of complaining.

spacecadet25

They promised that the next Battlefield game will have a lot of dynamic destructible environments.  Where are they??

Its going to be awful.  What a terrible, horrible, very bad idea.  Hardcore battlefield fans should be insulted that they would attempt to serve this up to the community as a reasonable entry to the series.

This is either going to be a good game or a horrible one. I'm a battlefield fan but when I purchased BF4 it was a broken game. So I wouldn't be surprised if this was broken too.

simon1812

they should remove the "Battlefield" from the tittle. I think I know what a Battlefield game should look like, and this doesnt look like a Battlefield game.

if I want to play as streetgangster fighting over money and drugs I go and play sleeping dogs or anything GTA.

Also I keep hearing that DICE isnt even developing this, thats just another reason not to care for this. I would hate to hear details about what kind of crap is EA pulling on them DICE guys.

darthburrito

You know DICE is not developing this, it's Visceral Games.

don't waste your time finding/watching the footage because it sucks anyway. Its just someone running around and driving around crashing into walls and doors, they don't actually show anything you can do in the game and hes playing by himself.

I wonder how many sucke....Oops! I mean gamers will pre-purchase this alpha.

I'd love to see DICE scale back the chaos and messyness of Battlefield, and it would make sense for a game like this that's based on police encounters and not massive battles. The bugs, blur, screen shake, interface indicators, ironsights, and most of all the clunky game engine (e.g. sub-par animations and controls really show during CQB) .... all of this just makes for an offputting experience. It's why I gave up BF4 after a week of play. Maybe I'm just used to the clean and polished feel of Source-based games.

Of course, we all know this is probably going to be the exact same Battlefield but with re-skinned guns, vehicles, and Payday 2 style classes and objectives. Here's hoping DICE will surprise us.

Battlefield 4 STILL doesn't work properly, so I can't see why anyone in there right mind would want to purchase this new iteration.  I mean, it's probably pretty entertaining, but in all likelihood, the game will be a clusterf**k of problems for the first year of it's existence.

I like that you can drive the tanker truck. I liked Battlefield: Modern Combat because you could drive non combat vehicles like ordinary sedans parked behind houses and stuff. This should lets you drive any vehicle you come across and include everything from sports cars to Mach trucks. Team robbers! grab the loot and get away on the 18 wheeler!

marlobc

seige of Shanghai anyone?

pidginnn

looks disturbingly like BF4

Dannystaples14

You know being able to drive any vehicle like that is great. Battlefield levels of FPS and more open flexible worlds with actual environment damage.

I'm not a fan of Battlefield 3 or 4 but this could be the way forward. Lets just hope it isn't released broken.

Razor10000

no lensflares or exaggerated sun which is awesome. it looks like a bf4 mod but i didn´t buy bf4 so i don´t mind. but lock on weapons = no buy. if the game isn´t skill based i not interested.

all you dipsh*ts are complaining but will be the first to pre-order.

I myself can't wait to play this sh*t

themc_7

it just looks like BF4, only no one is wearing military uniforms. Cops and Robbers, American's vs Russians, it's all the same. Don't get me wrong, I love the Battlefield franchise, but if this is supposed to "mix up and refresh the series", it doesn't (from what we've seen so far).

hystavito
hystavito

@AyatollaofRnR But it looks so similar.  Sure the cops & robbers setting is different, but when you watch the videos the action looks like it's military scale and not really connected to the law enforcement setting at all.

valknight
valknight

@blkgto right cause what we really want is another rendition of the same stuff with new enemies....

valknight
valknight

@jenn04 I think that one of the things they are wanting to do with this is possibly shrink the battlefields to make the destruction a bit more fun for graphical reasons.

valknight
valknight

@simon1812 this game is more like payday than either of those. Why is it that gamers cry about a bit of change. if you dont want change stick with call of duty..

blkgto
blkgto

@simon1812 This is absolute garbage.  They can call it whatever they want, its not battlefield, it shouldn't have battlefield in the title, and we should all disregard it for the meaningless entry it is.

If it isn't Battlefront 3 or Bad Company 3, don't tell us about it.  Better yet, delete all the date you have on this game and forget about finishing it.

ffxirules
ffxirules

@darthburrito Actually DICE is still doing the multiplayer while Visceral is doing singleplayer

valknight
valknight

@bassplayer55 they look like they are going for so much more. It's a bit of driver (get awa with the money) payday (rob a bank) counterstrike/rainbow (take hostages)  This is the perfect mixture of genres with a core of excelent shooting controls.. and geomod.. WILL BE AMAZING

blkgto
blkgto

@bassplayer55 Well if thats the way you feel, you are free to go play something a little more simple and mediocre like Call of Duty.

geekasauruswrex
geekasauruswrex

@themc_7 Battlefield has technically always been the same. What's up with wanting to play radically different games in a series, then complain about it because its too different?  People did it with CoD, Halo, and Battlefield.

If you want a different game go play  Call of DutyDuty or that crap Killzone. Those games are different from Battlefield.

blkgto
blkgto

@themc_7 yeah its all the same huh?  Where the hell have you been where police forces drive around in tanks and call in artillery?

edub272
edub272

@themc_7 I think the game modes will be the biggest way they mix it up with this edition. I could see some cool ideas for game modes. "Heist", your rights its prob gonna be very similar just cops and robbers but could be cool

valknight
valknight

@blkgto @simon1812 right cause it's not lik ethey arent using the frostbyte engine developed for battlefield or using lots of vehicles and shooting guns.. oh wait thats pretty much battlefield in a nutshell..

but with a bit of counterstrike added in. Quit crying about this game it's not even out yet.

hystavito
hystavito

@blkgto @bassplayer55 But it's not that it's too complex, it's that it's too "crazy" for the setting.  A cops & robbers setting shouldn't have large scale destruction with big explosions and heavy weapons and friggin airplanes making attack runs on streets :).

For a police setting, I think it should be scaled down and more about precision than brute force, although maybe more techie gadgets would fit.  I would like to see precision becoming very important, especially for the police who should have to also be worried about civilian casualties and damage, and then of course have something that balances that with the other side.

But yeah, I mean I don't play modern shooters anymore so I'm not really the target audience for this.  I just feel like the setting is wasted when you just shoehorn the same military style and scale of combat into it.

valknight
valknight

@blkgto @bassplayer55 perhaps we all love battlefield and the way it plays but dont feel like walking ten miles because everyone on the team took all the vehicles..  I think this game will freaking ROCK!!!

bassplayer55
bassplayer55

@blkgto @bassplayer55 Thanks bud, I don't play CoD but glad to hear I'm allowed to play other games. I always figured I'd wait until DICE read my post here on Gamespot and decided to tailor their games to my exact individual tastes.
