The German developer of the recently released Earth 2150 real-time strategy game has announced a new game, which is scheduled for release later this year. Called The Moon Project, the game will take advantage of the Earth 2150 engine, which is capable of impressively lit 3D environments. Two other games, World War III and Earth 3, will use a revised version of the engine.

The Moon Project is a stand-alone game that will feature new environments, units, and structures. The game's story occurs simultaneously with that of Earth 2150. While the various terran factions fight for resources, a secret research project has been uncovered on the moon, setting off a new conflict between the Lunar Corporation and the United Civilized States.

Take a look at the screenshots above to see the new lunar environments. Earth 2150's US publisher, Mattel Interactive, has not yet confirmed its plans for the series. For details on Earth 2150, read our review linked to the right.
