Tecmo has announced that Monster Rancher Advance has shipped for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance, ahead of its anticipated January 2002 release date. In the game, players will be able to create their own unique monsters by inputting an alphanumeric phrase that is four to eight characters long. More than 400 total monsters can be created in the game. After spawning their own unique monster, players can breed, train, and feed their monsters in order to battle in weekly tournaments.

"We were so encouraged by the demand for Monster Rancher Advance that we concentrated all our efforts on the game, to the point that it was completed earlier than anticipated," said John Inada, marketing director at Tecmo. "It took a tremendous group effort and a lot of hard work, but the quality of the final product really shines. Monster Rancher Advance will make the perfect stocking stuffer for gamers who have always wanted to take their ranching on the road with the portable Game Boy Advance."

Monster Rancher Advance supports up to four players via the Game Boy Advance link cable. It carries a suggested retail price of $39.99.
