Monster Jam rides again

Activision's Urban Assault takes the monster trucks series into the streets for PS2, PSP, Wii, DS.

Monster Jam is assaulting gamers once again, as Activision today announced Urban Assault, a follow-up to last November's multiplatform monster truck game from Torus Games. Where that title included a handful of outdoor tracks in which gamers could race their favorite licensed trucks like Grave Digger and Monster Mutt, Urban Assault will be exploring--and crushing--the world outside the stadium more thoroughly.

Given the command to "demolish every vehicle you see," gamers will take their favorite trucks through cities, reaping rewards along the way for racking up the damage toll. However, Urban Assault will also feature modes truer to the source material, with stadium racing and freestyle competitions, as well as a selection of new minigames.

In addition to the new gameplay approach, Urban Assault is also shaking up its target platforms, appearing this fall on the Wii, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Nintendo DS. Last year's game appeared on the Xbox 360 and PC as well, but not the PSP.

Developed by Torus Games, Monster Jam: Urban Assault is set for a fall release.
