While Nintendo mascot Mario recently enjoyed a high-profile Olympic debut, the portly plumber didn't participate in a marathon. That will change next week, as on November 12 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Pacific, GameSpot visitors will have a chance to watch a live gameplay marathon for the first proper console Mario game since 2002's GameCube effort Super Mario Sunshine.

GameSpot's Alex Navarro, who in his review of Super Mario Galaxy called it "a phenomenally fun game" and "one of Mario's best adventures yet," will be manning the Wii Remote for the marathon, with the aid of some fellow staffers. A live chat will be up and running during the marathon, and viewers will be able to submit questions during the show. The live video feed will be freely available to all GameSpot users.

In summary:

What: GameSpot Live Gameplay Marathon, featuring Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii
When: Monday, November 12, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific
Where: Check out the Super Mario Galaxy launch center.

For any GameSpot readers who can't make the live marathon, a video of the full event will be available on demand starting Tuesday, November 13.
