Modern Warfare 3 DLC collection hits XBL March 20

Activision confirms four Call of Duty multiplayer maps and two Special Ops missions available on Microsoft's online platform next month for all users; price not yet announced.

by

The first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection will arrive on Xbox Live on March 20, Activision announced today.

Air Force One has been grounded.

The first of four scheduled collections, the content will be available for purchase by Xbox Live Gold and Free users. It includes multiplayer maps Liberation, Piazza, Overwatch, and Black Box, as well as Special Ops missions Black Ice and Negotiator.

Black Box (pictured at right) has players battling next to the crashed Air Force One in a Southern California neighborhood. As for Black Ice, the Special Ops mission tasks snowmobile-riding players with gaining access to a diamond mine and planting explosives in it.

The Negotiator Special Ops mission takes players to India for a hostage extraction situation. Gamers will need to breach rooms and journey through city streets to deliver rescued persons safely.

On top of dating the first content collection for Modern Warfare 3, Activision today announced that Call of Duty: Elite content drops 4-6 will be available on Xbox Live for premium members on March 13. The content includes Black Box, Negotiator, and Black Ice. The content will find its way to the PlayStation 3 and PC at a later date.

Modern Warfare 3 downloadable content was developed by Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, and Raven Software. All content arrives first on Xbox Live, with subsequent releases for the PlayStation 3 and PC. Don't hate the game, Hate your score cause we know all you haters just suck at it!

@dxBIGBOSSxb Every game has its problems. And saying a sequel to a game should have been its predecessor doesn't make any sense. Thats like saying "Saints row 2 should have been Saints row 1.5" or "Battlefield 3 should have been Battlefield 2.5" And if you like CoD and usually buy map packs, then Elite is a nicely discounted bundle with early releases.

dxBIGBOSSxb
dxBIGBOSSxb

@QOSMSTR well the "Haters" actually have reasons and facts for not liking it more often than not. I can list about ten problems I have with MW3, and about two dozen with MW2. MW3 is FAR superior to MW2, that much is true, but MW3 is the multiplayer MW2 SHOULD have had. In other words, MW3 is AT BEST "Modern Warfare 2.5".

dxBIGBOSSxb

@tomjay31 You switched $15-20 dollars up front for $50 a year? Who the hell pays for an Elite service, on top of the game, on top of online subscription (System preference), and on top of your internet bill?

dxBIGBOSSxb
dxBIGBOSSxb

@psownsxbox4life It's not a "Bad" series of games, but it is by FAR the most overrated. MW2 is the only one I consider a bad game.

4 mp maps and 2 spec ops - i can almost guarantee the pack will cost $20 (1600 ms points). at least i don't have to worry about it with Elite.

thats funny, all my DLC for BF3 came included in my LE version... so far i haven't paid for anything extra besides the actual game

srbija_do_jaja
srbija_do_jaja

Its funny when the "extra" content surpasses the content of the original game. I paid full price and it feels like I have half the game. Note to self never buy COD new, buy the collection edition a year after release used at EBgames. Then post video on youtube of self playing used game to make activision angry.

Activision, how about you focus on not letting EA knock you out of the FPS market with Battlefield before you announce more crap like this.

QOSMSTR
QOSMSTR

@psownsxbox4life Exactly. And almost every game series has the same gameplay to it.

psownsxbox4life
psownsxbox4life

I think its hilarious that call of duty haters troll through every single call of duty article they can find just to comment on how "bad" they think the series is. lol. If you don't respect it why are you giving it your attention? and why aren't you instead reading battlefield 3 articles ( I assume that is what they play as a substitute)? Most importantly, the complaint about COD being the same game every year, come back when the next battlefield comes out and tell me that isn't going to be the same crap as battlefield 3.

And the price is!!!!!!! 55 dollars for 2 new maps, and 2 old maps. WUUHUU! IT'S THE DEAL OF THE F'ing CENTURY!!! To hell with the people who buy these games.

jsvalmont

I can almost guarantee this is going to be $20 not $15. This is 1/3 of the MW3 dlc, and IW has been saying all the MW3 would cost a total of $60 if you didnt have the subscription. $60/3 = $20.

I could swallow paid mappacks (despite the fact PCs were getting them for free since the beginning of online gaming). The primary reason is that with a paid product there was at least some incentive for the company to keep supporting the game. But Activision has shown that they pretty much drop support for a game anyway after a year, and therefore are just trying to make $60 in map sales every year then abandoning it for the next annual CoD game. Not to mention $15 is utterly ridiculous. I really want to know who these people are who spend money like that on what often turn out to be mediocre maps that are outclassed by other game's fans on any PC game with a map making tool. Skipped all the mappacks since the CoD4 one, skipped MW3, and am probably going to skip the next CoD if (lol, I mean when) it releases just a year after the previous. Enough is enough. I used to be a CoD fan, but just like Halo, at some point there were just too many releases and I just stopped caring. Though at least in Halo's case I skipped Reach, so I'm actually a bit excited about 4 since I haven't played a full Halo game since 3 back in 07.

I quit COD at COD 3, these games are all the same now, and not half as long as they used to be.

people are still playing this game???? wow . . .

Anyone with half a brain wouldn't spend money on content that should be provided for free. I remember receiving the map packs for free on CoD4 and 5 for PC. Now they'll sell every tiny breadcrumb for money.

dxBIGBOSSxb

@Techn1c4l More like an Alpha. 3/4 games I played on MW3 (Which I rented. I don't pay for trash.) I had to quite because of how horrible the connection service is. I rarely lost a game, and had a high K/D over 2.1, yet I only "Won" about 80 of the over 300 matches I "played". I put that in air quotes, because it basically sums up how awful the game truly is when host migration NEVER works, and more often than not a game ends abruptly half way through. You know what the most important part of a game is... actually playing it.

dxBIGBOSSxb
dxBIGBOSSxb

Why pay 15$ for a crappy map pack, when you can spend it on much better stuff? Here's a short, and sarcastically thought up list of ten things that are better than all CoD map DLC (Outside of maybe zombies) COMBINED: 1. Castle Crashers 2. Old World Blues 3. Lair of the Shadow Broker 4. A used copy of Brutal Legends (greatest soundtrack ever) 5. One month of SWTOR 6. The bullsh*t "From Ashes" DLC for ME3 7. 15, dollar bin, Steven Seagal movies. 8. An online passcode for BF3 bought used. 9. A 1 year subscription to gameinformer. 10. Lastly, burning it at a hipster rally.

Wait, what?! This isn't the Mass Effect 3 homepage...Well anyways, people don't buy this PLEASE. You don't rehabilitate a drug addict by throwing drugs at him(or her). And (facepalm) to anyone who who paid for Elite. Before you bash me, YES I have mw3(I should have known better) and it's the biggest load of 4 year old sh*t. Ok, now back to my first point, let mw be and get ready for Mass Effect 3! Who's with me? PS: instead of a pretty, polished turd pack, put your money towards a full game!

I don't understand why more than half my friends list complaims about this game yet that's all they play all day... Also they buy all the dlc like this one... I find this funny yet stupid oh well eventually people will reliaze this.

Hmm, how about something other then a silly map pack. I have a great idea, how about you add a few more hours to the story for those of us who prefer the SP campaign. Nah, that will never happen. Map packs are cheap and easy to make and they can charge people $15 dollars a pack and mentally challenged individuals will buy it! ~sigh~

I hate most of the people commenting here. Especially the people who while trying to make an okay point, have absolutely no understanding of grammar. I am also a Call of Duty fan (treyarch's games) and I do believe that there is too much hate for the series, but you still need to learn to spell if you want everyone to read your posts.

While PSN is Free we only had to pay $50 for Elite. Xbots had to pay $60 a yr for Xbox Live + $50 for Elite. MS still fails.

I better get all my DLC For MW3 on PSN by Dec 7th. If I don't because of MS greedy nature with COD DLC 1 month before PSN I'm goin be pissed. Thank God this DLC deal with MS ends this year. Sony and Activision won't allow MS to do this again, that's for sure.

@kiriyama_X Except for no... Yes some of the games on your list show markedly little change from each other (Fallout 3 and Fallout NV). However, realize that in the past 10 years (including all spinoffs) we've had 3 fallout games. And 14 Call of Duty games. Oblivion was released in 2006, Skyrim in 2011 (with improved graphics, combat, crafting, social interaction etc. etc.). We've had 5 Call of Duty games in that time, with little to no changes in the engine whatsoever. Also Starcraft 2? Really? Starcraft 1 was released in 1998, Starcraft 2 was released in 2010, I really have no idea what you're getting at here.
