Racing fans will have a feast of mobile gaming options over the coming months. On the soon-to-be-released Nintendo DS, two arcade racers are slated for pre-holiday release: Ridge Racer DS and the DS launch title Asphalt Urban GT. Now, with the announcement of two popular Codemasters titles--Colin McRae Rally 2005 and TOCA Race Driver 2--for Sony's PSP, it looks like gear heads on the go will have plenty to keep themselves busy once the PSP hits stores in 2005.

As a racing nut, I'm excited for all of these games. On the DS side, it will be interesting to see how Nintendo's handheld machine makes use of the dual screen capabilities for its racing titles. Because Colin McRae and TOCA 2 were two of my favorite games of this year, needless to say I'm curious as to how they will translate to the (relatively) small screen of the PSP.

What's your take on this burgeoning handheld street race? Think the DS has the edge in innovation? Or will the PSP's strong software lineup take the checkered flag?
