Ubisoft today released Assassin's Creed Pirates, a mobile spin-off of the recent blockbuster Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. The game is available today on iOS and Android for $5.

Set in the year 1716 during the golden age of piracy in the Caribbean, Assassin's Creed Pirates puts players into the shoes of Alonzo Batilla, a young and ambitious captain on a quest to find La Buse's famed treasure.

Players must manage their crew, upgrade their ships, and recruit new crew members as they take part in real-time naval battles. Assassin's Creed Pirates also has players crossing paths with assassins and Templars, as well as iconic pirates like Blackbeard, Bellamy, and Hornigold.

Developer Ubisoft Paris created an all-new mobile game engine for Assassin's Creed Pirates that promises "groundbreaking" and "breathtaking" visuals for elements like water and islands. Check out a trailer for the game below.

The way The Motley Fool, BGR, etc. and others are talking about how mobile gaming is taking over gaming, I expect no less than 2 million of this app to be sold in 24 hours.  If it does not STFU and NEVER mention mobile gaming AGAIN!!!!!

Just sailing and shit. Not interested.

Make a mobile AC game just like the console AC games and I'll get it. Something like Assassin's Creed Liberations for the PS Vita could also work great on mobile devices.

@ladies_man_xxx I wonder why bloodlines was not ported, it's a great portable game that does seem runnable on current mobile hardware.
