Beating opponents down to bloody stumps just got a whole lot cheaper. Midway Games today announced that Mortal Kombat: Deception will now be redistributed as a Platinum Hits title on the Xbox and Greatest Hits title on the PlayStation 2. Deception will come in new packaging and sell for the new price of $19.99.

In addition to the gory one-on-one fighting in line with the franchise, Midway added some rather peculiar game modes to Deception. Konquest mode puts gamers through a story-driven adventure mode, puzzle kombat is a Tetris-style game, and chess kombat is loosely based on the classic board game.

The game was originally released in October 2004, and, according to Midway, has shipped 1.9 million units worldwide. Mortal Kombat: Deception is rated M for Mature. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's full review.
