The PC/Mac version of Minecraft has now sold more than 13 million copies. The game currently sells for $26.95 per copy, but early adopters paid less for the alpha and beta versions, so calculating lifetime revenue is problematic.

This is up from 12 million copies sold in the beginning of September and 11 million copies at the end of June. Writing on Twitter, creator Markus "Notch" Persson said, "The original version of Minecraft has now passed 13 million copies sold. Official statement: whoa."

Minecraft is, of course available on numerous other platforms. The Xbox 360 version has sold more than 8 million copies as of August, while the Pocket Edition passed 10 million copies sold in May.

Microsoft has described Minecraft as a "beast," and will release the game on Xbox One. Minecraft is also coming to the PlayStation 4, though a release date has not been set. Nintendo recently addressed the game's absence from the company's platforms.

Persson recently revealed in a new book about his life why he turned down a job offer from Valve.
