I have mixed feelings about this game; I mean, it's cool to build stuff and discover new places (specially with Sonic Ether's mod), but there wasn't a day where after a few hours I got lost and everything I did, for hours, is gone, just like that. I need to accomplish something in a game, actually in everything, i need a point, and even if I have the freedom to set an objective myself, after some hours playing I feel like I wasted my life on it, even when I do achieve my set objectives. I do come back to it from time to time, knowing that I'll waste time, but sometimes it's just what I want.. But in all honesty, I think all this uproar over this game is a bit stupid, it's not a bad game, it's just that it isn't as insanely great as people tend to get crazy about. Deserve my kudos for being a successful indie game though.
This game was only fun when i had to discover with my friends what i can do like how to find diamonds create doors etc. but after knowing everything it just goes downhill and boring. Though my little brother is too addicted to it :o
I honestly don't get it. This game looks like it came out after Wolfenstein 3D back in the early 90s. Some people can get over the poor graphics unfortunately I have a hard time playing games that look this grotesque. I realize gameplay is everything to some but I want at least decent graphics in my games. To each their own.
lol I simply don't get it. I played this at a friends house after hearing about all the hype. I was bored silly after 5 minutes of making friggen wood and stone. My friend would say in an excited shriek "look, its a cow!" and I'd say " mmm thats great man, but what are you supposed to do?"
"...You just hang out... and kinda build stuff!"
Not only was it boring, but the terrible graphics actually hurt my eyes. I guess like smart phone and tablet games, theres a market for this simplicity. I'd never pay for this on my console or PC But I won't call anyone stupid for liking it, it could be worse (albeit not a whole lot better lol)
@EL_Bomberdor Dunno, depends on how much initiative you have. By myself I played for an hour and stopped. But with friends I've invested dozens of hours, with others innovation really combines with ability, so you can build cities and towers and games.
@plm3d_basic singleplayer is fun for a bit but what makes it great is all the mods out there and there is texture packs....They chose these graphics for a reason, for an art standpoint and a technical standpoint. Think of it as lego's.
@Polygon_Pariah It's not for everyone. Before playing it, I thought it was ridiculous that we would regress in the graphics department. After playing the demo, I was hooked. This game is brilliant in its simplicity.
people who have a lively imagination and love to build things will like this game, building complicated constructions and filling in the rest with your imagination is the point, it doesn't tell you what to do, it's all up to you,
@DrKill09 Well, can't say the same for Angry Birds, but Minecraft is only as dumb or boring as the person that's playing it. If you have low imagination or creativity, there's nothing that it can really offer you...
@Evil_Apai You're here because you clicked on the link that said: "Minecraft PC passes 11 million sales". More than likely just so you can skip straight to the comments to let everybody know how cool you are because you don't care about this particular article.
@TommyBarban People love open world games and open-ended experiences, but when taken to the extreme like in Minecraft, a lot of people can't find any joy in playing it. It's not a Bethesda open world kind of game, it's about mining and crafting - exactly what it says in the game's title :P.
I know people in my neighborhood who love it, but I'm more of a FPS/RPG person and if I can't kill any enemies in various ways, listen to voice acting or play through a great story, then I'm not interested. If I didn't live in the same country as Notch my general interest would be even lower.
@ChaoticLucidity@DrKill09 Or if you don't like what the game offers, you won't like the game. Your level of imagination/creativity has no direct connection with whether or not you will like any type of game. You like mining and crafting -> you will like Minecrafting.
@feared4power My kitten eats bulls for breakfast, dragons for lunch, and other dimensions for dinner. Which is surprising, since he's such a little cat. I don't know what I'll feed him when he grows up.
@thermalmotion@acelogan1989 I thought that too, and it's not for everyone... But if you like lego, its alot like that, except there's hundreds more things you can make/do, and you son't have to worry about finding that one F&*KING DAMN PIECE you wanted.*
There are texture packs for it if you get it for pc, makes it somewhat more bearable, and there's hundreds of mods out there too... Only thing you can do is play it if you wanna find out.
