Minecraft Convention Taking 2014 Off, Back in 2015 in London

Minecon, Developer Mojang's official Minecraft convention, will not be held this year, but will be back in 2015 in London.

Mojang Chief Operating Officer Vu Bui explained the company's plans in a post to it's official website, since by this time last year it already had ticket information for Minecon 2013.

"While we’d love to do MINECON every year and it’s the only event we do as a company, we want to make sure we can give it the attention it needs, and that means that springtime next year will work best!" Vu said, adding that he'll have more information as soon as Mojang confirms the venue and have signed a contract.

Minecon 2013 took place over two days in November in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. It sold 7500 tickets for $150 each. This will be the first time Minecon skips a year since the convention first took place in 2010.

The open-ended sandbox game has been incredibly successful since its full release on PC in 2011. The game has since sold around 54 million copies across PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and mobile. Minecraft is currently making its way to Xbox One and PS4, though it's had certification issues with the latter. Recently, Nintendo indicated that Minecraft could come to the Wii U or 3DS in the future.
