Minecon 2013 tickets go on sale today

Mojang will release 7500 tickets to this year's annual Minecraft convention, but tickets will be sold in three batches throughout the week.

The first batch of tickets for annual Minecraft gathering Minecon will go on sale today, Mojang has announced.

Minecon 2013 will take place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida on November 2 and 3.

7500 tickets will be sold in three batches of 2500, after tickets to the show last year sold out in less than two hours.

The first batch of tickets will go on sale Wednesday at 16:00 PT/19:00 ET. The second batch will follow on Friday at 07:00 PT/10:00 ET, followed by the final batch on Saturday at 12:00 PT/15:00 ET.

In the UK, that's midnight on Thursday, 15:00 on Friday, and 20:00 on Saturday.

Tickets are $150 each, with a maximum of six per order, though those under 3 years old are allowed to attend for free. They can be purchased from the Minecon website.

"When you book your tickets you can also book hotels at our special Minecon rates," added Mojang. "We have a variety of hotels available with different prices and different distances from the Convention Center."

The developer adds that more information about this year's convention will be made available in the coming weeks. "There will of course be panels from Mojang and many community members, an awesome tradeshow where you can check out cool products and services revolving around Minecraft, and of course lots of Minecraft merchandise for sale."

Minecraft fans should be made to pick through a large rock wall blocking the entrance before they are allowed in :P

What do parents of teens do during minecon? We are travelling from Canada with a 15 yr old & don't want to walk around the conference for 2 straight days. Is there an age limit for teens to attend alone? Is there something' parents can do while the kids are In minecon for 16 hours? Or do we have to buy tickets and accompany the 15 yr old both full days??

Minecraft was better when it wasn't popular.

Don't underrate Minecraft until you have played it. From a distance, it looks like low quality graphics with digging/chopping. Far more than meets the eye in terms of a open ended creative social game. There's a reason there is a huge community behind it. Check out all the stuff built on youtube!

A game that promotes innovation and creativity is definitely not "one mediocre game" there is a reason why it is so successful critically and commercially. I used to not know what the craze is for such unappealing aesthically game till my friend let me try. At least this game is different from the same old formula of CoD, AC etc.

Why there is an entire convention dedicated to one mediocre game, I don't know.

Chop chop, dig dig, chop chop, dig dig... how is that fun?  If I want to build things, I use the good ol' build engine, or back in the day, Lego Creator.

Most overrated game since Angry Birds.

Meh, maybe when it was still interesting.

How do you cosplay for something like this ?

It's funny watching highlights of the conventions on youtube. It's just an influx of stupid little kids asking yogscast what program they use to record.

I can't believe this is even a thing. I know Minecraft has done pretty well, but a convention? Come on, man.

Personally, Minecon seems like that time of year where Notch gets to stroke his own ego a little bit, as if he's not doing that all of the time anyway.

I thought Blizzcon was overly priced. $150 a ticket? LMAO!! What a joke. Glad I don't play Minecraft. Even if I did, I wouldn't pay $150 to go to this stupid show.

There are still tickets left for furry conventions, you should go there instead and have some fun guize.

@Fartman7998 As in the game got worse somehow after making enough to hire a full development team and produce more content?  Popularity itself has no bearing on how good the game is.

@Yatsukiii it already made billions of dollars so I don't think it would "die" or "live" its just a good game and it will be replaced with another one pretty soon.... its not like some random puke inducing MMO

@Yatsukiii You'll probably have to wait awhile...  But honestly I love this game, if for nothing other than the really great modding community that has been built up around it.

I wonder what kind of people attend this thing

@Poison-tooth @DrKill09  No, I don't.  I REALLY don't get this game's appeal.  Bad graphics, bad AI, no real structure.

I mean, I am all for "retro" graphics, but this game's style is an insult to retro games.  NES games like Double Dragon 2, SMB3, and P.O.W. have far better graphics than this game.  Better gameplay, too.

@DrKill09 @Poison-tooth To be fair to Minecraft's creator Notch, I don't think he anticipated the game becoming as big as it did either when he made the original web Java version. The main appeal (that I experienced) was the building aspect of the game (you don't get that much building flexibility in other titles). Other than that though, its not all that great.

@DrKill09 @Poison-tooth

It's a sandbox game.  If you don't enjoy creating structures, you probably won't enjoy the game all that much.  The gameplay is only limited by a persons imagination, there is something to be said about that.  Minecraft isn't going for "good graphics", its boxiness is its style.  Certainly you have better things to do than complain about a game you aren't forced to play.
