Mighty No. 9 Delay Confirmed, Now Coming in 2016

As rumored, Mega Man and Dead Rising designer Keiji Inafune's platformer Mighty No. 9 has been delayed. Developer Comcept announced the news today in a message sent to backers (via NeoGAF).

"We are unable to confirm a final release date at this time, however we will be aiming for a release in Q1 2016," the developer said. "Once a solid release date is set, we will announce it immediately to our backers and fans."

As for why Mighty No. 9 is being delayed, Comcept said it needs extra time to fix bugs.

"All of the core content for the game is developed and in a complete state," it said. "However, there are still bugs and issues pertaining to the online features that are included in the game. These bugs and issues have a direct affect on enjoyment of the game, so a decision was made to work these issues out before release."

"We appreciate your support and patience regarding this matter, and look forward to delivering Mighty No. 9 to our backers and fans in the best state possible."

Mighty No. 9's delay is no surprise. Last month, product pages for the Mega Man-like game suggested the title had shifted to 2016. At the time, publisher Deep Silver declined to comment.

Mighty No. 9 is in development for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, 3DS, and PC. In the game--which was funded on Kickstarter--you play as a robot named Beck who is the only one not infected by a mysterious virus that makes everyone else go crazy.
