Might & Magic: Heroes VI delayed again

Ubisoft's turn-based strategy game now scheduled to arrive on PC on October 13; release date shift due to incorporation of community beta feedback.

by

Gamers eager to leap into the world of Ubisoft's turn-based strategy game Might & Magic: Heroes VI are going to have to wait. Ubisoft has announced that the PC game has been delayed again and is now penciled in for October 13.

Might & Magic: Heroes VI isn't ready just yet.

The news comes from Ubisoft's community developer Irina Kassina, who recently wrote in the game's forums that Might & Magic: Heroes VI would not make its previously planned September 8 ship date.

After taking into account feedback gathered from the game's first beta, specifically issues with game balance and bugs, the developer thought it was wise to shift the release date in order to have enough time to implement the necessary changes and fixes.

A second beta wave has gone live today, and all those who preordered Might & Magic Heroes VI will be able to take part in the trial period. Additionally, the second beta hosts more solo and multiplayer maps than were featured in the first wave.

This is good news, but whats the drm on this one? Anyone? Ubisoft is well known to destroy their games with extreme drm features.

HHMM, I'll wait see how the reviews are when it comes out before considering buying this one. Love the older classic games though on HMM, stilll crank them up once in a while to!! Cheers Tom

Now, when can someone discuss remaking the classic Might and Magic RPG games. Those were legendary!!!

HMM VI still has 6 or7 years of delay before it can claim the title of most delayed game ever. It will never catch Duke Nukem Forever in that category (And nothing can be nearly as bad after such a delay) That being said, HoMM 3 is still king of all the Heroes games. IV was just terrible and about as balanced as a see saw matching a newborn baby and a sumo wrestler. V was solid but as others mentioned, way too laggy and slow even on the highest end pcs. Some computer turns taking as much as 20 minutes to complete.

All you noobs who think DEVELOPERS SHOULD LEARN to release games when they are done are being retarded. Devs aren't insisting on releasing games before they are polished and perfect, PUBLISHERS are. Kids...it's sink or swim out there and that stuff is not in the devs hands 99% of the time.

I don't mind this at all. I wish more developers would follow this and stop releasing buggy games *cough Fallout: Las Vegas cough*

With all the bugs in the beta version, they should delay the game even more. And why the hell can't they make a town screen?! Are they too lazy?

@olegavi323 I have the same opinion. Developers nowadays should learn to release their games when are 100% done.

Yes, I have to disagree with the DRM movement too. I can play any game without paying regardless of DRM, only thing is it delays it a bit. However, now that I have a job I use this as a means of demo-ing a game and nothing else. If the game can hold my attention 30 minutes, its worth buying, and if it doesn't, then I don't need to play it most likely.

At least it isn't being delayed due to arbitrary reasons that Assassin's Creed series on the PC has suffered. That said, I'm a little wary about the idea of having persistent heroes that level up, since Heroes of Might and Magic was much more famous for hot-seat gaming than it was for online.

Let's hope the delay is for something good...

You must be on drugs. MM2 is waaaaaaaaay better than the overrated MM3

I think I'll stick to the King's Bounty games for the time being.

A little unbalance isnt that bad. Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is awesome and that game got some really overpowered Races and heroes.

I wish they'd give up the focus on trailors, cinematics, and graphics. The best MM game ever made was the third and its graphics were crap. I barely played MM V for two weeks before I was bored and it looked beautiful. Make a good turn-based strategy game. Forget about the bling. The rest will take care of itself.

I think all game developers around the world should learn a thing or two from "Blizzard" = a game should be released when it's done, not when the release date comes!

@eric_neo3 Ubisoft has nothing to do with EA neither with Origin! They are delaying it obviously for improvements or other bug fixes!

@strayfies I'm not too worried about DRM. I doubt it'll use any significant DRM, and any DRM it does use can usually be pretty easily removed/cracked away. I will agree with you about the serial code activation. I can see why devs have moved away from that, but it really hurts when Devs put difficult DRM in the way of my gaming experience. Crap like Securom can be nerfed pretty swiftly, but more and more devs are getting away with DRM by moving onto a "gamer friendly platform" such as Steam, which is really unfortunate. We need less of those inhibitory services these daysm, especially with "the cloud" movement looming.

They're not gonna fix all the bugs; nobody does that by launch. But let's hope they get it to a reasonable low count of them. Rebalancing doesn't concern me, though. I've never heard of a game that didn't come with 40,000 angry gamers shouting for "balance" no matter how the game played. Also if this has something to do with DRM I guess I won't find out whether it's as good as HOMM3. I refuse to pay these companies that use invasive DRM. There are plenty of highly successful games without anything more than a DVD serial code at installation.

Looks like they're delaying their games till october to help the launch of origin. but my question is can they're servers handle the people at launch?

Make the damn castles look better. As they look now is truly lame, ugly, stereotypic, boring, non-logic, out of propotions etc. And no I don't buy Ubi-drm-coc-games.

Looks like developers are finally rolling back to actually get products correct as opposed to releasing beta versions to he masses... Get it right or don't release it.

@Eric_Drav3n Agreed, i tried playing the 4th and i just couldn't get into it, i don't even remember my opinion of the 5th...or the other way around, either way they have not been the same since the 3rd.

wise move, IMO. Better to polish it up some more than serve it up buggy and then got hammered upon release (like the unfortunate Elemental: War of Magic). I hope it'll turn out good, I love HOMM.

Jon Van Caneghem, the creator of the Might and Magic series, was at the Ubisoft booth during E3, I wonder if they got him to help out on the game. It's probably wishful thinking on my part since he's work for EA on Command and Conquer now.

they don't wanna release before it's finished, thats great, but this is absolutely the last time ever i pre-order a game, the beta itself consisted of a few maps only (but was marketed as a bonus for pre-ordering), the game was apparently not even close to being finished (its been what now, 5 months?) ... i love the series i've been playing it since the beginning but these marketing tactics really turn me off, last time ever i cough up money for a non-finished product

I've got the first five Heroes games and I love them, but the way Ubisoft is today makes me rather suspicious of this one. I'll be keeping a cautious eye on it.

I was thinking there was yet another delay after the announcement a week ago that it was delayed, based on the headline. Turns out, Gamespot is a week behind in the news and this is the same announcement. Whew.

Heroes 3 is by far the best in the series, and actually one of the best games I've ever played. Have my hopes up for Heroes 6, so I'm only glad they delayed it to fix bugs and balance issues.

I want a good new Heroes game, I truly do. I started playing Heroes III when I was in high school (that's a long time ago), and man I had a blast, hell I still play it to this day sometimes. I played every single heroes game that came out after that, but none could give me the fun I had with Heroes III. I honestly have no idea why the other Heroes game couldn't catch the magic (no punt intended) and fun of the third one.

grab heroes 3 complete 4.0 version, improve the graphcs and make devils balanced with humans race and id be happy with that. Including the way the campaign map was laid out too in heroes 3. Hated the lay out in heroes 5 with the stupid 3D spinning (wannabe Warcraft 3) campaign map. Id love a TOTAL WAR SHOGUN 2 looking campaign map, that would be amazing.

Last one so so laggy for some reason, even with all the settings turned down. i dunno what causd it as its the only game that does that on my pc. Yet games like Witcher 2 and bad company 2 run flawless. Some dogdy optimization i think.
