Sony has given final approval to Rockstar's Midnight Club: Street Racing for the Sony PlayStation 2. All the elements of the game's final code, packaging, and marketing material have been approved. The game is now officially ready to ship for the PlayStation 2 launch on October 26.

"We are thrilled that Midnight Club has been approved by Sony Computer Entertainment America for the launch of PlayStation 2 on October 2," said Paul Eibeler, president of Take-Two Interactive. ''Being at the launch of PlayStation 2 with two potential, new gaming franchises in Smuggler's Run and Midnight Club is a clear example of the growth this company has achieved over the past year."

Rockstar, a high-end publishing division of Take-Two Interactive, will release three PS2 games by the end of the year. In total, the company has over 10 games in development for the console, with games such as Austin Powers and Oni headed to Sony's console.
