Microsoft: Xbox One launch lineup the best in console history

Corporate vice president Phil Harrison talks up company's 23-title launch lineup, says "it's the games that make Xbox One stand out."

by

The Xbox One's launch lineup of 23 titles is the strongest in the history of console releases, Microsoft corporate vice president Phil Harrison told CVG in a new interview.

"Ultimately it's the games that make Xbox One stand out, and we have the best lineup of games--we think--in the history of consoles," Harrison said.

Launch titles for the Xbox One include big-budget and high-profile games like Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4, as well as free-to-play fighting game Killer Instinct and various sports titles like Madden NFL 25, NBA Live 14, and FIFA 14.

In Europe, FIFA 14 will be included as a free pack-in game for all Xbox One preorders.

"We clearly have strong exclusive games, and we have partnered with EA to bring FIFA to Europe in a very meaningful way. Football in Europe is the sport, and in some countries it's the religion," Harrison said.

Xbox One exclusives coming to the platform at launch include Dead Rising 3, Fighter Within, Ryse: Son of Rome, and Forza Motorsport 5, among others.

The Xbox One launches in November for $500.

Are they kidding? None of those games are interesting at all.

The list of exclusives is not enough for many gamers to consider a 100$ more expensive console as their 1st priority.

A bunch of sports games, QTE: The Game from Crytek(Why....), and Modern Shooter 34 and 35. An xbox and all the launch titles in a sack is worth the sack.

launch is the end of xbone..sony will think through time not just for the first day

it is mighty impressive.  for one thing, 23 titles at launch (and not using a bunch of indie games that look like they should be on android/iOS than a console).  and some major biggies.  no substitutes like drive club (where is gran turismo???).  sony hasn't even locked down launch day games.  I remember the launches for the 360 and PS3.  those were okay at best.  a lot of games with poor framerates on the 360/PS3.

It's not a bad launch line up, certainly better then the Wii U's lineup, which consists mostly of lazy ports and stuff like Nintendo land and Zombie U which were pretty "meh"

and it's actually a little better then the PS4's lineup

but I definitely wouldn't call it the "best in console history"

LOL.

Forza's the only big name franchise exclusive at launch. If this is the best in history, we've had a pretty bad history.

Killer Instinct and Kinect is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Unless you take your Xbone to a gym your going to destroy your living room or break your leg. Just Fn hilarious... It's like an Abercrombie and Fitch commercial for gamers.

Ugh, what bullshit.

Ryse has already shown to be an incredible disappointment, any of you who have seen the gameplay video will agree. It's so linear it might as well be a rail shooter. The combat is simple to say the least.

Sports games..... Not for everyone..
Call of Duty... Not impressive.
That Kinect fighting game seems ok if you like Kinect games.

Most of those games are third party titles available on either PS4 or PC. PS4 has many of the games on that list.

PS4 will launch with 33 exclusive titles. Not including third party titles like the above list.

yet again Phil Harrison is talking out his arse.

If that's the best launch line up in history, all the previous ones must have really sucked. lol

You lying sacks of fecal matter, MAYBE SEND RARE back to their roots then then you could have had some of the craziest titles

Umm, yeah... Of course he's gonna claim that their stuff is the best stuff around. Just change the name of the company and it could have been any company saying that. I'm totally fine with him having that opinion, but for me the PC has the best launch titles in history :P.

I'm getting both but am looking forward to the ps4 more... Anyone saying otherwise is obviously a fanboy or under mindcontrol

I'm getting PS4 but I agree that the launch lineup for Xbox One is a little better...

BUT with that said, over time PS4 will have the finest exclusives, count on that, just like the PS3 does over the 360 right now.

MY OPINIONS ARE FACT.

Bobi this is a xbox article, stop being a ps troll. You must be jealous of what xbox one can offer if you keep posting ps4 related comments!!!!!

It's fucked up that MS changed there policies mostly because of the PS fangirls. They were all complaining because they switched to Xbox and now they go back because of more launch titles. I am fine with that many launch titles. I don't want to play all. Having 30+ launch titles is pointless! I mean how many games can u play during launch? Also, ps4 was made for the mentally challenged and for low income house holds, so I can see why a lot of people have to stick with it. Remember people, u get what u pay for!

Agreed, well said MS! Btw Titanfall is not a launch title, but I am pretty sure it is an exclusive. Don't worry, PS4 is not compatible to run such a great game. The system is, how do u say, "lacking"? Xbox One>ps4

Even if it turns out to be a great launch, you still shouldn't say things like that. There are so many other ways to put it that won't make you possibly put your foot in your mouth. I won't be getting a new Xbox, but I hope it does well, even if MS has done some things I don't agree with lately.

Titanfall is from EA, so don't tell me its exclusive to Microsoft and all. And everybody is dancing around Dead Rising.. It's made by CAPCOM! Nobody learned anything from them? Ryse: Son of Rome looks great but not like its a must buy. Killer Instinct developed by Double Helix while Rare makes Kinect Sports. nuff said.

For Xbox it really does great launch up title

much better than 360 launch games

I don't have an OUYA so I cannot say how good the launch titles of it were, but it wins in terms of quantity.

Most people using the Xbox One are probably going to be people like my peers and me, whose game library consists of Call of Duty. Perhaps not me, as I would prefer KZ:M.

@raziel2kain And yet devices like Apple's ipad or iphone continue to sell so much even though they're considerably more expensive than competition. It all goes down to people preference. Imo the xbox offers something very different than the playstation but that's because I like what people call "guimmicks". If you don't like these stuff, then you'll go for the playstation, but those who want the same experience and don't mind paying extra for a little extra experience definitely go for the xbox.

@hrst1 but in terms of how it was packaged its the worst, there were packages that were missing controllers, cables, and such on their launch

@vahythelord1 @eddieham13 am not a fanboy but you do know that the ps2 was the least powerful compared to the xbox and gamecube and it won because it had the most games.

@HowlPendragon @Hurvl I'm a bit behind schedule and recently finished The Witcher 1 for the third time, which "unfortunately" didn't come to console. I'm also enjoying the mod friendlyness of it, which also isn't something consoles have. Many interesting Kickstarter games are also *only* for PC, but Shadowrun Returns is the only that has so far been released.

I've never played a GTA game and don't intend to, but with more than 300 000 signatures on the "GTA V for PC" petition, it would be stupid not to bring it to PC. Especially, since all other GTA games have been on PC. Heck, GTA IV is still at the top 20 in the UK.
