Rumors have been circulating about the revival of the Halo feature film for a long time, but Microsoft is getting ahead of recent Internet rumblings. A Microsoft representative told GameSpot today, "As we've previously stated, we have no plans for a 'Halo' motion picture at this time."

Back in 2005, we learned that The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit director Peter Jackson was involved with the production of a Halo feature film. Jackson said way back then, "As a gaming fan, I'm excited to bring Halo's premise, action, and settings to the screen with all the specificity and reality today's technology can provide."

But that project was postponed in 2006, and we learned that that particular concept was scrapped entirely by 2009. Regardless, the dream lived on among Halo fans and word spread that director Steven Spielberg was going to pick up the franchise in 2010. Then District 9 and Elysium director Neill Blomkamp expressed interest in taking on the project in 2013.

Despite the big names attached to the potential film, a movie never materialized, but Halo fans did get a Halo 4 Internet video series, Forward Unto Dawn, that drew over 55 million viewers.
