Microsoft's E3 briefing takes place June 9 -- What are you hoping is announced?

Xbox maker announces time and date for its annual E3 press conference.

Microsoft's 2014 E3 briefing will take place on Monday, June 9 starting at 9:30 a.m. PDT. Microsoft is calling its presentation "Xbox: Game On." As in past years, this year's event will be held at the Galen Center on the campus of the University of Southern California.

According to Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, you can expect to hear more about previously announced games, as well as unannounced games coming in 2014 and beyond. Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, said recently that Microsoft will announce both new IP and new sequels during the event.

You can watch Microsoft's "Xbox: Game On" presentation on Xbox.com, Xbox Live, and on Windows Phones. You can also watch the event on Spike TV in the United States and Canada. Major Nelson also teased that Microsoft will hold "fan-centric" events both before and after its E3 presentation on June 9. "Stay tuned for more details on those activities as we get closer to E3!," he said.

You may not need to wait until June for details about the future of Xbox, as Spencer said recently that "May should be a good month for news."

Monday, June 9 is going to be a day gamers won't want to miss. Other E3 press conferences scheduled so far for that day include Electronic Arts (12 p.m. PDT) and Ubisoft (3 p.m. PDT). Sony is also expected to hold its briefing on that day, presumably later in the afternoon/evening.

What are you hoping for from Microsoft's E3 showing this year?

I have one thing, and this is more aimed at all the consoles rather than just Xbox, I would like to see some more games that feature split screen multiplayer, It is one of the things that consoles do better than PC and we finally have TV's that are big enough to play it on comfortably but for whatever reason there seams to be no games that have it except Call of Doody

I would like to see a restructuring of Xbox Live Requirements.

YouTube, Netflix, Hulu+, Internet Explorer, CNET, Pizza Hut, CinemaNow, Vudu, Facebook, Twitter.... The list goes on. These types of apps should not require an active Xbox Live Gold subscription.

Free to Play games should not require Xbox Live Gold.

The parts of Xbox Music that are free on PC should be free without XBLG on Xbox.

Seriously though, Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, EA and Ubisoft all need to get straight to the point and just show their games. I want hype, I want a good show and I want trailers and announcements the entire time. I want to be surprised and impressed.

This is an important E3 because it will determine which system(s) we should buy in the next year. Last year, E3 was centered around the new consoles, but this year, it needs to be all about the games.

I'd like to see some new RPG games. All i have seen that is in that category is FFXV and Child of light, A JRPG like Dragon Warrior 7 would be cool, great adventure element with countless puzzle solving, leveling, gear etc. Even Dragon Quest 8 was awesome :)

Microsoft makes me cringe, I hope they announce nothing and die.

Is Sony's conference at 8:00am? Microsoft should make sure they go after Sony's conference. They always seems to go first every year. M$ should have had theirs at 5:00pm at night.

Shenmue 3 or 1&2 in HD. It's time to pick the series back up.

Can't wait to see Halo 5 in 980p! LOL J/K

Seriously, can't wait to see Halo 5 and some new IP's. I'm on the fence as to which next-gen console to get although I'm slightly leaning towards a PS4 since I've been playing Xboxes for a long time.

C'mon M$... drop some EXCLUSIVE games!

How about some GAMES?   ...and a media player that'll browse shares.  Sure, running the 360 app through the HDMI input via the TV app works just fine, but let's just assume that I don't want to fire up the 360 to multitask something as simple as MP3 streaming -- on this multi-tasking Xbone...

I hope theyre announcing that theyve built a time machine and are going to do the show tomorrow instead.... (along with everyone else's conference obviously)

GameFan1983

let me put it this way, if M$ failed to come up at least 4 meaningful exclusives this year that can even remotely match PS4's line up, then they won't make it to the end of generation.  Price drop, TV programs, exclusive COD DLC etc, what not are absolutely second priorities. let's see if M$ can set priority straight this time.  It'd be sad to see M$ out of business and have one company monopoly the industry, bad for consumers

I'm hoping to see a price drop. I'm hoping to see Bill Gates walk out and announce the sale of Xbox and it's assets. I'm hoping to see a new Xbox One model with better specs, a controller with a built-in battery pack like Nintendo and Sony has and of course no Kinect. I'm hoping to see some brand new unannounced games.

@blackace  Sony is waiting and being patient because E3 is more then a month away, but word is that its at night, likely 8 pm. 8 PM is a great time.

I don't see this happening though.. Maybe Sony will pick up the slack..?

@Pyrosa"How about some GAMES?"

How about others make games?

MS brought more games than any other competitor at launch!

oflow

@GameFan1983  They already have 5 meaningful exclusives coming without the new IP announcements:  new Halo, new gears, new Fable, Sunset Overdrive and Below.

Rumor also has  it that theres a new Battletoads coming as well as Ryse 2 which is supposedly awesome. (set in medieval times with more weapons and more moves)

Also, its kind of laughable you think MS would go out of business before Sony.  Market analysts are giving Sony at best 2-4 years before going bankrupt.

One thing MS doesnt lack is capital.  Even if the XBOXONE made no money (which is  hasnt) they have tons and tons of money compared to Sony thats bleeding money out of their pores.

@HybridExtreme  you do know that the price already dropped to $450 which includes a game  right? thats the same price as a PS4 with a game.

og_bladez
og_bladez

@HybridExtreme Some of you make me laugh unbelievably hard. I doubt you'll see a price drop before the holidays and IF that even happens it'll be a holiday special meaning low stock, high demand, and will return to normal price after the holiday season. There's nothing wrong with the Kinect sensor, and in fact it enhances your gaming experience. I can't wait to see what other companies will do with it's capabilities. The built in battery is a letdown, but at least other companies have solutions such as Nyko.

origkillmachine

@HybridExtreme So you're basically hoping for a bunch of things that have no chance of happening. Tip: Dont get your hopes up. lol

@og_bladez What are you smoking? Kinect DOES NOT WORK outside the USA. In Australia it works less than 50% of the time in voice recognition, about 10% of the time with the ridiculous palm gestures, but DOES work when you don't want it to, like during movies or youtube! I'm constantly adjusting it and recalibrating it but it JUST DOESN'T WORK. Enhances games? HOW?!?!

HybridExtreme
HybridExtreme

@origkillmachine It's funny that even Bill Gates himself has no real interest in Xbox. Nintendo should buy out Xbox assets and start putting Nintendo titles on the Xbox One.

sladakrobot

@Tiger_Ali That never happend and will never happen.

The X1 is far better than you think guys.

@HybridExtreme  Nice! Imagine Zelda with the Xbone's (or PS4's) specs? It's nice to dream... although at the rate Nintendo's going, we'll be seeing their software on PS4 or Xbone by next E3. LOL

If Nintendo doesn't show a Zelda AND Metroid for Wii-U at E3 they're finished.

Pyrosa

@HybridExtreme I wonder how many people here understand that BillG doesn't actually run Microsoft...
