Microsoft on Xbox One: We Have The Best Exclusives, New Franchises, and Multiplayer Community

"It's more fun on Xbox One," Microsoft says.

Not long after Sony introduced a new marketing slogan for the PlayStation 4 stating that the console is "where the greatest play," Microsoft has fired back with a fresh tagline of its own. Microsoft launched a new video today that claims, "With the best exclusives, spectacular new franchises, and the best multiplayer community, it's more fun on Xbox One."

Writing on the Xbox Wire, Microsoft says 2014 will be a "great year" for Xbox One owners, thanks in part to new games like Sunset Overdrive and Halo: The Master Chief Collection, as well as a $399 Xbox One bundle. That's a full $100 below the console's original price point, though the new bundle does not include a Kinect camera.

"Customer demand for the Xbox One video game console continues to remain high and we are thrilled with the accelerated pace of consumer adoption we are experiencing" -- GameStop president Tony Bartel

Retailer GameStop is also enthusiastic about the Xbox One's prospects this year.

"Customer demand for the Xbox One video game console continues to remain high and we are thrilled with the accelerated pace of consumer adoption we are experiencing," GameStop president Tony Bartel said in a statement. "With the new $399.99 version now available, we are seeing more traffic in our stores from customers who are ready to experience the next generation of Xbox gaming."

At E3 2014, GameStop told us that the new $399 Xbox One units were "flying off the shelves" just a day after they were introduced on June 9.

Microsoft has also published lists of all the games coming to Xbox One this year, including a total of 12 exclusive titles making their way to Microsoft's console. Meanwhile, dozens of multiplatform games like Assassin's Creed Unity, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Destiny, Grand Theft Auto V, and Far Cry 4 will come to Xbox One this year. "2014 is shaping up to be the most memorable year in Xbox history and we hope you're as excited as we are," Microsoft said.

Below are lists of games coming to Xbox One in 2014, courtesy of Microsoft. For more on all the games coming to Xbox One in 2014, check out GameSpot's masterlist. We also made a list for Xbox 360.

My mind boggles as to why they keep thumbing in this softie. Go do some real work on this useless piece of crap. I was dumb enough to buy a Xbox One and im still waiting a decent exclusive, in fact im still waiting for a game i can actually care to play. I swear to god buying this thing is the wort decision i ever made. Im just hoping that other Xbox users finally start to take in their loss and stop defending it. Only then will Microsoft take note and work on it. Up until then, were stuck with a pretentious piece of egotistical, overrated crap.

Well, obviously they will say it, they are paid to. If I was Microsoft, I would have said the same thing. What is so surprising about this?

"We have the best exclusives" except... you don't AND you have a console that struggles/cannot do 1080p/60fps, oh Microsoft, why you so silly.

I was a long time Xbox fan - both the original and the 360, but it looks like I'll be a PS4 owner this gen (once the blockbusters start hitting shelves). While I agree with Microsoft's assertion about the best multiplayer, I completely and wholeheartedly disagree with their claim of "best exclusives, spectacular new franchises" Hell no.

I just wish Microsoft didn't concentrate ALL their attention on multiplayer, 'dudebro' games. Not everyone enjoys MP gaming, and the Xbox really offers nothing for those of us who enjoy story driven and/or single player experiences. Hell, they've even taken Fable away from us. I look at the Xbox and all its features and find myself completely underwhelmed.

I bought an XBox One right after the holidays. Honestly the only game I play on it that isn't on the 360 also if Forza 5 and even with that Forza 4 was a better overall game..

That was an awesome add! I am looking so forward to my Xbox1 purchase!

xbox will come on top, look at how they evolved the 360 with the amazing dashboard and usability, the ps3 on the other hand i still that lame dashboad and its reflecting on ps4 as they do nothing to make it better still just stability updates and what not sony dosent care about you. and they wont on ps4 either. MS is actively listening to make sure we get what we want.

For me, it's true. I enjoy the Microsoft brand better than PS4 and Nintendo. While Nintendo will always have a special place in my heart and Sony has my respect, Xbox is just where I'd rather be. That doesn't mean I'm not a great player because I didn't go to Sony, or that I'm blind to Nintendo's success at E3. Here's to us all finding where our greatness awaits and where the fun is best had.

you guys have to remember that the Xbox 360 dint truly blossom until 08/09 ish that that was 2-3 years after release. i believe Microsoft will come out of this on top at least gaming wise. why? because Sony and most Japanese tech and gaming companies for that matter have a knack for making extremely stupid business decisions from good positions or just over time in general. and i think it'll be that screw up and Microsoft buying off games that will change the tides

Mediocre list of "blockbuster" exclusives, a moronic community and nothing until 2016. "It's more fun on Xbox One," who the hell thought that up? One of Mehdi's kids? Their advertising for this monstrosity has been atrocious.

I bough the xbox one and the ps4 on both release dates and both seamed decent to start. Now a few months later, I strongly prefer the ps4 because I've had so many glitches with the xbox one. Half the time it wont even load my disc based games with out an error and the only way to fix it is to hard reset and screw around with removing and re-inserting the disc over and over. Its also frustrating waiting for install times and getting stuck on menus and waiting for things to load. The forced system and sometimes game updates are a big negative for me because I don't have a high bandwidth cap and also have to share with 3 others (I'm looking at you Deadrising 3). I'm not a fan boy of either company but so far Sony has given me a smoother gaming experience than Microsoft for cheaper. Hopefully they will improve the console because im looking forward to some of the exclusives this year.

I bought an xbox one and I regret it. Neither xbox one nor ps4 are even close to competitive to computers. When ps3 and 360 were released, they were like a good computer. But this generation they are like mediocre computers. My pc is 3 years old and it is much better than this 2 brand new consoles. Granted, the cost was also the double, but like I said, not only is it much better, its even 3 years old.
I totally regret buying xbox one, and I am even buying games on steam sales that I already own on the xbox one, just to play it on the pc.

Funny, cuz most XBOX One owners will tell you it is a pain in the ass to use. Even have seen so many who said they actually sold theirs to get a PS4. I guess you could say it has the best multiplayer community. Less people means less douches, and we all know there are plenty of them on both consoles. Sony should have just said, "We have native 1080p" Microsoft could have said, "We have the best upscaling."

Jesus 1250++ comment on this shitty console war , just admit it each console has plus side (exclusive, app, etc, etc).

If ur people arguing about best for gaming PC will always win in terms of exclusive , resolution , fps , online etc, etc

And dont bullshit me with the price of PC , if u cannot afford one thats ur fault but dont go shouting saying this one better than that one.

Not every one can buy a ferrari , but a corolla will never ever ever ever be better than a ferrari.......

@northArrow How are Ori and the Blind Forest, Project Spark, and Quantum Break "dudebro" games??? Funny how the PS4 is heavily promoting the Destiny and Battlefield Hardline betas, which are both massive online games, but you don't seem to have a problem with that!!!

@gunnmetal

The 360's dashboard was "amazing"?  Usability?

Oh, the suits in the PR department REALLY need to give you guys better scripts that aren't so obvious.

Keep it up, though.  It's pure comedy gold.

@gunnmetal How can anyone call the 360's dashboard "amazing" it's absolutely horrible and filled with nothing but ads. I still miss the old one

northArrow

@rolxlosdx Also don't forget that the 360 languished in its last three years as Microsoft abandoned it. I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if in 3-4 years from now Microsoft is no longer developing games for the system, relying on third parties for the entirety of their line up again.

@kalarro  Consoles are more for plug and play gaming. Of course PC will always have the best gaming experience. You can constantly upgrade your PC. They can only update consoles.

@lim30041982  Both consoles are fantastic and only getting better. PC gaming is kind of lame if you ask me. As far as exclusives there is so much mediocre shovel ware for the PC that may be exclusive but who cares. FPS control scheme may be better on the PC but the community and dedicated servers of the consoles makes for a better experience over all with these types of games. (So many nights with RL friends and online friends: just headsets and match after match). Online games as far as RTS and MMO have always been really good on the PC but as far as server stability and preventing hackers from ruining a perfectly fun game consoles have always done a better job of protecting the integrity of the games. PC gamers as a stereo type seem to have a superiority complex. I think PC attitude comes from so many AAA high rated titles coming to consoles first and often exclusively. Ask the PC gamer about how much fun they are having playing GTAV. Consoles are known hardware so developers have an easier time developing games for consoles. As a console generation progresses the knowledge developers have about the specific (and unchanging) abilities of a platform they get more out of the hardware on an Xbox or Playstation. With this being so early in the console generation and several games already being so fantastic for both platforms, I suspect that my High end PC will be played less and less as time goes on. A PC is a internet box and a great server for streaming movies and such throughout your home, but developers know the money is in consoles and will continue to show them favoritism for years to come.

PS Ferraris break down a lot need expensive replacement parts and can at best make 2 people happy. I would take some friends and a good solid reliable Corolla any day of the week over something I am afraid of taking out of the garage.

@aronaouran It's funny that you mention Quantum Break, it's literally the only exclusive for the Xbox One that has me really interested.

The only problem is that Microsoft didn't even bother to show it off at E3, most likely because it doesn't have an MP, doesn't require "the cloud" and therefore won't be supported with advertising dollars. I see that game turning out like Alan Wake (a game I loved on the 360), a great game with disappointing sales, and we'll never see another game like it.

Thanks for proving my point.

kalarro
kalarro

@repetitiousv2 Well, a console is a computer inside the hull. The only differences are that you can't modify it, and that it comes with it's own Operating System.
Like I said above, 360 and ps3 were like good computers at their time. But the new generation technical specifications are worse than a 3 year old computer. (More or less, using my own computer as an example)

kalarro
kalarro

@DGfishingtime @kalarro Well, but I had lots of fun on the 360. It had something that set it appart from computers. I had fun playing pc and I had fun playing the 360. But now I feel everything I do on the xbox one I do better on pc.
IMO this generation of consoles is beeing much worse than the 360/ps3 one

DGfishingtime

@rorytmeadows They know how to use them. They just feel it is clunky. Both systems are great. Microsoft going back on everything they said they wouldn't do to sell their console isn't. Stick to your guns. Now developers can't rely on every system having the Kinect 2.0 when making games. That is a setback for them. Not going with the DRM is a setback for us gamers. PC already has this model, and it works, and they get games much cheaper.

@northArrow @aronaouran ummmm, the developers didn't have their demo solid yet and wanted to wait until GC to show it off.  also, you only have such a limited time with press releases.  point not proven on your end.  dudebro
