Batman and Mr. Mom actor Michael Keaton has joined the cast for DreamWorks' upcoming Need for Speed movie, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Keaton will be featured in the film alongside stars Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) and Dominic Cooper (Captain America). He will play a "reclusive and eccentric" host of an underground supercar race.

The Need for Speed movie, due to theaters in one year this week, will tell the story of a street racer (Paul) who teams up with an arrogant associate (Cooper) only to find himself framed and sent to prison. After leaving the clink, he joins a New York-to-Los Angeles race to score revenge.

Other actors recently confirmed for roles in the Need for Speed flick include hip-hop artist Scott "Kid Cudi" Mescudi, Ramon Rodriguez (Battle Los Angeles, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen), Rami Malek (Night at the Museum, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2), and Harrison Gilbertson (Beneath Hill 60, Accidents Happen).

Rounding out the announced cast members thus far is Imogen Poots (28 Weeks Later, Fright Night), who will reportedly play the role of an "exotic car dealer" for the film.

Directing the Need for Speed film will be Scott Waugh, who's best known for helming Act of Valor, a military movie starring active-duty US Navy SEALs. Possibly more relevant to the Need for Speed project will be Waugh's experience on stunt crews for dozens of films, including Torque, The Italian Job, and Biker Boyz.

Waugh will be filming a screenplay penned by George Gatins, the executive producer of DreamWorks' 2010 comedy She's Out of My League. Gatins developed the Need for Speed film's story with his brother John, who is producing the film and also wrote the scripts for Real Steel and Flight

The Need for Speed movie is in production at DreamWorks (Shrek, Kung Fu Panda) and is due to theaters on February 7, 2014.

We want Paul Walker and Vin Diesel to play this movie and I want Paul to say, "I'm a cop and I need Nos". Vin can play as Razor Callihan.

The whole idea of a Need for Speed movie makes me cringe. You couldn't pay me to get near that theater. Hasn't this idea been done to death already with the Fast and Furious movies anyway? I don't know. Maybe I'm just getting too old.

Oh that's so friggin cool, good to hear. But as always, just because a brilliant actor/s have been cast in the film doesn't mean it's gonna be good. I'm just really hoping that's all, I hope it's so much like the old Undergrounds and Most Wanted and a lot less like crappy 'The Run'.

Oh, NFS movie?  I'll pass.  As much as I prefer Keaton's Batman to old cancer-throat of the recent movies, I just don't see this being good.

Wake me up when the next Criterion developed NFS game comes out.

Well, then again, I am being too harsh.  The news could've been worse; they could've announced another EA Blackbox NFS game!

The only good one they did was the PS2 version of NFS Hot Pursuit 2.  Too bad they didn't develop the XBox1 or PC versions.  God damn the PS2 has aged badly.

Michael Keaton is a great actor.  He makes most movies better. Does anyone know his real last name?  You'd be surprised.

WyteMike77

@Crawl827 If he's the host of the underground racing he needs to have a fly whip... so he has to drive the Bat Mobile. Right?

@Shmoe82 @WyteMike77 Most def. #2 was hard core and #3 a softy, but #4 was frig'n awesome. you know their names?

WyteMike77

@Shmoe82 @gatsbythepig say what? His name is Michael Douglas... too? Sweet!

...ah-ha. I see... Michael John Douglas. With 3 first names from... Coraopolis, PA... which is right down the street. Thank you wiki. Sweet! Not sure where the Keaton came from. Oh well. MK is better than 3 1st names. Smart move.

@Saketume @enartloc Him and KITT should cameo. Don't forget Bo and Luke Duke with the racist, I mean, racey-ist 01 General Lee. Crocket and Tubbs with a Ferrari. Maybe they could, in some way or another, include all of the sports car related show's form the 70's, 80's, & 90's. You think?

@RedSeatRacing @WyteMike77 @Bumblebee1138 nah... I seen what you did. and did well. just saw the word playing on something that was irrelevant to the topic. Sweet word playing though guys. Now use something from topic. :-P i.e. Tim Burton's NFS and NFS Returns and have Prince make another single for the movie. :-P

@WyteMike77

Now all you have to do is go to the bank and explain your idea to get a loan :D

WyteMike77
WyteMike77

@Saketume I'm now contemplating a spin off of the titles, which would be 4-6 deep already, to do 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, '00's, & '10's... get this... wait for it... picture this... instead of famous TV show chases... famous...Movie chase scenes. OK. maybe it'll be DLC for it's relative TV show chase title. oh-yah... I'm on to something here. Who knows how to dev games. I'm crazy about this idea now. We could team up and do some Android based racing game for the... hmmm... Ouya? maybe?

WyteMike77
WyteMike77

@Saketume ...the 90's will have of course Knight Rider 2000, but did you think you'd ever here of Viper and Thunder in Paradise again?

...the 70's and 60's would contain cars like Starsky and Hutch's, The Monkees', The Green Hornet's Black Beauty, The Bat-Mobile, the car from The Saint, Herbie which might cameo in the 90's. Sweet, right? who's pre-ordering these racing games?

WyteMike77
WyteMike77

@Saketume ...and special guest appearances by Airwolf and Streethawk for the 80's addition. i haven't forgotten about B.A. and Murdock in the A-Team van. what-what!!!

WyteMike77
WyteMike77

@Saketume 3 limited editions in my above example/ 1 for each series that includes a RC and hotwheels diecast of whichever you choose. Also the tin with book filled with bios and photos for us picture peeps. And of course the game itself will have officially licensed scenes from the shows. But wait. I'm not done there. The limited editions will have a BD, not a DVD, of the complete series. BOOM! not bad, right? Now the title will be changing to... get this... 80's TV Show Chases. Mind blowing, right? Because, next year I'll be doing a 90's with the 90's model KITT and more to come... ohh yah. cliff hanger for all of you. :-P

Saketume
Saketume

@WyteMike77 @Saketume Will there be a preorder limited edition special with a model car in it? And cut scenes from the movie?

WyteMike77
WyteMike77

@Saketume @WyteMike77 I'll call it TV show car chases and it'll contain a few famous chases from each of the series and it'll progress through in chronological order to their TV air dates. Sweet!! Right?
