Metro: Last Light and Metro 2033 for PS4 teased in new video

After confirming rumors that it planned to bring its two Metro games to next-gen consoles earlier this year, developer 4A Games today published a short video teasing the PlayStation 4 version of the compilation.

The official Metro franchise Twitter account today sent out the message, "Are you ready? Because we really, nearly are..." This was accompanied by a link to the Vine video below (via NeoGAF), which briefly shows the DualShock 4, the PlayStation 4's dashboard, and at least one of the Metro games, presumably running on the PS4.

A leak earlier this year revealed something called Metro Redux, a bundle including first-person shooters Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light that would be coming to the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. 2033 was released on PC and Xbox 360 in 2010, and was followed in 2013 by Last Light, which was released on PC, 360, and PS3.

Rather than dismiss the leak, as most companies tend to do in such a situation, 4A and publisher Deep Silver admitted in March that Metro Redux is indeed real.

"Is Metro Redux real? Yes. We never made any secret of 4A's desire to bring Metro to the latest generation of console hardware," a statement on the official Metro website read. "But what you saw leaked was taken from an old, internal planning presentation, containing some nuggets of truth but a lot of hypothetical ideas and place holder material."

We have yet to get any indication of what, if anything, will be changed or added in Redux. It's possible it could include the games' DLC, which added weapons, missions, and more. Both games were received positively--2033 earned a 7.5 in GameSpot's review, while Last Light earned a 9.0. However, Last Light has been criticized for the Ranger difficulty mode--described as "the way it was meant to be played"--being locked away as DLC, a decision 4A has blamed on former publisher THQ.

When the existence of Redux was confirmed, we were told an announcement regarding the game would be made prior to E3. With the event kicking off in less than three weeks, we should be learning more soon.
