As Metro 3D receives praises for Armada on the Dreamcast, it begins hinting at an online-playable sequel.

On the official Metro 3D message board, Metro 3D staff members have already begun talking about a sequel to the recently released Armada for the Dreamcast. Prompted by strong praise from fans of the game, the Metro 3D members have revealed that the sequel will make use of online play, an option that was removed from the original game due to difficulties with Sega's online network.

One of the developers of the title stated that he is up for doing a sequel. "It would be a real shame to just throw away all the online work we had to axe at the last minute," he commented.

Currently, the Metro 3D crew and the Armada developers are tossing around ideas for the sequel, and they're taking into account some of the suggestions from fans. One thing that has been mentioned is that Armada 2 will most likely let players of the original Armada use their existing character data to help develop better characters in the sequel. In other words, the sequel will likely reward those players who have spent a lot of time building up characters in the original version. While ideas are just beginning to get tossed around about how this would work, one possible use of the data was mentioned by one of the crew members of Metro 3D, who said, "One idea is that the sequel takes place one thousand years after the events of the first game, and you inherit power from your ancestor in Armada 1."
