Metal Gear Solid V has 'vast' multiplayer mode

Creator Hideo Kojima says Metal Gear Online planned for upcoming open-world action game; will be developed collaboratively at Los Angeles studio.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will include a "vast" multiplayer mode, creator Hideo Kojima has confirmed in a new interview with CVG. He explained that this new mode will be developed by Kojima Productions' recently established Los Angeles studio in collaboration with the company's main outfit in Japan.

"Yes, we plan on creating Metal Gear Online," Kojima said. "Multiplayer right now is being created at our LA studio as well as us. We're working closely to create a vast multiplayer for all the fans."

No further information about the open-world game's multiplayer mode was divulged.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is currently in development for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It will feature real-time weather, new stealth options, various modes of transportation (tanks, horses, cars), and is said to offer "unparalleled strategic freedom."

Kojima also recently revealed that the final version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will look better than the trailer shown off during Microsoft's E3 briefing on Monday.

I would keep both types of MP the new one they are developing (free roam) and the one from MGS4 that would make a lethal MP experiance

Alot of you guys posting must not have played MGS4s multiplayer. If you have you would want that back not some GTA4 free roam. People already say this game is copying that game and asassins creed.

Awesome, I just hope it doesn't dumb down singleplayer in any way at all.

A multiplayer similar to GTA4 would be great, I mean using the open-world thing with friends too is awesome.

Multiplayer is welcome as long as it doesn't detract at all from what this game is all about, single player.

Make a CoD move towards a strong MP focus, adding a tacked on SP imitation and this one goes to my "never buy"  list.

MP can be a blessing and a curse, it can make a game better or simply ruin it.

I think hayter's voice was too exaggerated, right now it seems more realistic whit keifer sutherland

Free roam for this game plus the added bonus of the stealth (as always) makes it a really amazing game.  So far I cannot wait for this game to come out. Once again i do believe that Kojima has set the bar.  Once MGS5 comes out hopefully itll be better than the trailer seems to be.  So far I'm really excited and anticipating it to be one of the best.

It would be really cool if the multi-player involved a free-roam of the whole open world and you would end up running in to other players in the world and either choose to try and kill them or team up and ambush somebody for evil purposes or something.

would be awesome if it tied into the campaign. Like how as big boos you're the leader of a private militia so the Multiplayer is you and a few of your militia soldiers doing an infiltration mission in order to secure supplies for "Mother Base" ala Peace Walker. And by doing online matches it helps you build up "Mother Base" in the Campaign.  Now THAT would be awesome. I'd much prefer that to a competative MP

So what are "ground Zeros" and "the phantom pain" two separate games or the one game?

I am looking forward to seeing what they can do with MP on the next gen consoles, It looks like games are heading away from the Tact on team death match MP modes and going for more of a blend of SP and MP in there open worlds.

Guys you're freaking me out when you didn't include PC among the consoles the game will be released on..."Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is currently in development for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4"

@super_voltron REMEMBER we are rebuilding an army

so mostly the new MSF or rather Diamond Dogs will be available as on Peace WALKER it was the MOther Base crew

maybe even some MaIN characters like Quiet or some unannounced characters if there are any

but that would be cool NOT necessary but Cool

@super_voltron Miller is still missing an arm so he probably wouldn't be a co op partner. Ocelot maybe but random soldier #3 is more likely.

I feel like since it's being made by the branch studio were still going to get a supreme mgs title. Although I don't know how they can top mgs4.

@bababubab Don't you find it weird that David Hayter was at E3 when he has nothing to do with the game or the press? I doin't think he was voicing any other characters for games lately, but I could be wrong.

@zeronem GTA IV really set the bar with free roam, I agree that it would be a fun feature for this.

GurtKurt

@Ayzed As far as i know it's one game. While "Ground Zeros" is something like the prologue, "Phantom Pain" is the "Maingame". Think of "Ground Zeros" as the Tanker part with Snake in Metal Gear Solid 2 and "Phantom Pain" is the part with Raiden.

@AntauriX22 The first ever Ground Zeroes demo was running on PC! So it makes sense that there is a PC version for sure.

@AntauriX22 It will be released on PC, you know the game was running on pc at E3, like some other guy here posted all xbone trailers and gameplay were on pc....controversy.????...i know!!! The website even got pics!!!

@AntauriX22 Well,Kojima-san did confirm that MGSV is being developed for PC,but he said that it is currently not a priority, and a release date hasn't been set.
Just hope that Metal Gear Rising sells well on PC,then MGSV's release on PC will become official, and considering that many PC gamers have been going gaga over MGR,I guess it'll sell well. :)

@AntauriX22 YES, god I was wondering that myself. Had me worried their gamespot.

First of all don't tell me to shut up. I'm not quoting anything. I'm saying that everyone is comparing this game to Assassins Creed, GTA, and Red Dead Redemption. Why don't you read before you reply next time.

jagcivtec

@gww101  Have to disagree there, that title belongs to GTASA and Just Cause 2.  Both games superior to GTAIV in free roaming.

@GurtKurt @Ayzed Actually it's two games that combine to make MGS5. The only thing we (and supposedly Konami) don't know is how much they'll charge for GZ.

DamnILoveGames
DamnILoveGames

@jecomans I really enjoyed MGS4 story wise and I liked the gameplay too. I just didn't feel there was enough of it. Hopefully this will change that being open world and all.

jecomans
jecomans

@DamnILoveGames I was really hoping for a return to top form in the MGS series after MGS4, which was a horrible disappointment in a well-loved series for me. So far I'm not sure MGS5 is really doing it.  I'm uncertain now about Kojima and what he'll do with an open-world; though as you mention, it does imply that this time the gameplay component will be longer than the cut-scenes at least.

Biggs613
Biggs613

@istuffedsunny @GurtKurt @Ayzed Kojima has said it that GZ and Phantom Pain combine to create MGSV, so both will complete the experience. He's stated that Ground Zeroes will act as the introduction to the game, and is more confined and on rails to teach the player the skills etc., to prepare them for the Phantom Pain and it's open world.
