Metal Gear Solid musician lends talent to album of game lullabies

Upcoming album will feature relaxing tracks from Nier, Secret of Mana, and other games.

Scarlet Moon Records today announced its upcoming album, Prescription for Sleep: Game Music Lullabies. The album features pianist Ayaki and saxophonist Norihiko Hibino, who's primarily known for his song "Snake Eater" from the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater soundtrack.

Scarlet Moon hasn't yet said whether Prescription for Sleep will include any Metal Gear Solid music. It has announced, however, that the album will feature relaxing arrangements of music from several games, including Donkey Kong Country, Secret of Mana, Nier, and Demon's Souls.

Prescription for Sleep will be released on May 19, 2014 on multiple digital distribution services. For more information, visit Scarlet Moon's website, and listen to the exclusive sample above. The excerpt is from a Secret of Mana track called "A Wish…"

Demon's Souls music lullabies? I bet they're so hardcore that you have to listen to them again and again before you can manage to fall asleep. It takes far more skill to fall asleep after listening to them than any of the kiddie friendly, casual lullabies.

Snake Eater theme was awesomely hilarious.....if you actually listen to the lyrics it's absurd....

"one day you'll go through the rain, one day you'll feed on a tree frog" Whut? bwahahahahaaa

Nier probably has one of the best soundtracks ever !

Despite being one of the worst games.

@MJ12-Conspiracy  Well, yeah, that was the point. Like the theme to a majority of the James Bond films - corny as hell, but it works.

@faizanhd

It's a "love it or hate it" type game. I don't blame you if you didn't like it. Sure, the graphic are nothing special, the gameplay is an average hack n slash. But the story, the music (one of the best ever, I agree with you), and the voice acting (IMO one of the best English dubbed for Japanese game) that makes the game exciting. How far have you played?

@Draken_Domingo Yeah but the James Bond themes are usually about the film or the feeling of the film...and they're more serious but Snake Eater did go for the same feeling as a Bond flick and the song worked....even as silly as it was...

When I actually listened to that song...really listened to it I died laughing....
