Metal Gear Solid 3D demo dropping tomorrow

Trial of Konami's PlayStation 2 port for Nintendo's handheld arriving Thursday in eShop; full game due February 21.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D doesn't hit store shelves until February 21, but gamers won't have to wait that long to try out the title.

Snake sneaks to the 3DS tomorrow.

Konami has announced that a demo for the game will land in the 3DS's eShop tomorrow, February 16 in North America. According to the publisher, the demo puts players in the opening segment of the game, where gamers trudge through the swamps of a Soviet jungle to search for a locked-up scientist.

Nintendo began offering 3DS demos last month and said it plans to offer new trials "periodically."

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D is a port of the PlayStation 2 stealth game with tweaks designed to take advantage of the 3DS hardware. These include 3D visuals, as well as touch-pad and camera support.

@pokecharm You can wait, you've got it on enough platforms to keep yourself satisfied I would say :)

Baby steps. Soon will open the floodgates to demos and, with any amount of luck, decent, enjoyable, meaningful DLC.

@moviequest14 Play limits is not an issue.I wanted to try out REvelations demo very badly before, but in the end I only played less than 10 times of the demo.30 times is more than enough, really.

I had Peace Walker on the psp, but the control scheme was so annoying. Same with Monster Hunter Frontier on psp. I really like to be able to control my camera comfortably in a game; bad cameras are a pet peeve. Actually probably more than that ha ha. Anyway I pre-ordered a circle pad pro and this. Can't wait to play the demo. I love the circle pad for Resident Evil Revelations. I hate dual thumbsticks for shooters, but I love them for camera aiming. Fine adjustments can be done using the gyroscope anyway.

I already have the collectors edition for the PS2 as well. I haven't beaten any of these games yet. I'm not going to bother with the HD versions for the PS3 & XBox 360. If they had include the original MGS, the VR Missions and even the first 2 games from the NES, I would have gladly bought it.

It says this will be in North America eShop, but no mention of anywhere else..... where's the Euro love, Nintendo?

I'm just worried about the controls. Hopefully it turns out fine.

I would like for them to make MGS 1 for the 3DS. I mean that was when I first got into MGS. Even though it was recreated for the Wii I would like to see that one portable.

@WllDan7 : I don't know of anyone that would live off of a 1-level demo and not buy the game. There are just exceptions...like people like me that would like to show off the best the 3ds can do to everybody ..I am planning on buying both RE and MGS fairly soon...but I would at least like to be able to show off to everyone what I am going to get.

I still own MGS VR Missions for PS1, and beat MGS1 and MGS2 (PS2). The first few MGS games truly stand the test of time like few others. MGS 1-3 ranks alongside Final Fantasy 1-X, RE 1-3 and the earlier Capcom fighters as truly timeless.

nice more demos coming :) I never got to play the game on ps2 or psp so this will be great for me considering I'm debating on whether to get RE or this.

@moviequest14 Because they want you to buy the game. Most people aren't going to play over 30 times. A few times is enough to get you to buy the game. But for people who really like the demo and hit 30 this gives them more reason to buy the game.

There are no reason for me to get this if I already got the HD Edition. I'll probably take a pass and wait for a Castlevania or Contra 3DS instead. As for the demo, I'll check it out. Just can't ignore the freebie.

@RobinGS - and that's why I'm hesitating...I have it on PSP, got the HD collection, do I really need it, again, on the 3DS? I might wait for the price to lower and maybe then pick it up...

@moviequest14 At least the demos aren't timed like they are in OnLive.

To be honest I was quite disappointed by the demo's....while I don't expect the full game why must they put a play limit on what is already a limited demo of a game?

Oooh, this should be interesting. As much as I wish Kojima would have made an entirely new MGS for the 3DS, I love MGS3 so much that I'm thinking of buying it again just to experience it in 3D.
