Metal Gear Online PC Beta Taken Down Due to "Possible Exploit"

Just hours after the Metal Gear Online PC beta went up on Steam, it's now been taken down.

A Konami representative said in the game's forums that the beta for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's multiplayer mode is being pulled down temporarily as a result of a "possible exploit." The nature and extent of the exploit was not divulged, though Kotaku reports it has to do with players being able to get free in-game currency.

The MGO PC beta will return after Konami can deploy a hotfix to fix the problem. However, no timetable for when the fix will be ready was divulged. We'll update this post as new details become available.

Metal Gear Online launched for the console versions of The Phantom Pain in October 2015, a month after the main game arrived in September. Since its arrival, Konami has introduced a number of updates to the game, and even more DLC maps and Survival Mode are slated for the future.

The MGO PC beta started January 12 at 10 PM PDT / January 13 at 1 AM EDT, meaning fans have only had a few hours so far to check it out.
