A "shocking" PlayStation 4 announcement will be made during Spike TV's special launch broadcast from New York City on Thursday evening, Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima said today on Twitter. This announcement will "blow your mind," he added.

Kojima is currently working on Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, as well as Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Separately, a Konami representative told GameSpot that it will make multiple announcements about Ground Zeroes content on Friday, though it is unclear if this is related to Kojima's tease.

Earlier this week, Kojima suggested that Ground Zeroes would receive PlayStation-exclusive content when the game ships in spring 2014.

Whatever announcement Kojima is teasing is not the only news that will come from the Spike TV broadcast. The debut trailer for The Last of Us' first single-player expansion will be shown during the event, it was confirmed earlier this week.
