If the release of The Sims 2: Pets and Shrek the Third isn't enough to make you rush home to play on your Wii this weekend, then you might want to check out the latest set of releases for the Virtual Console. Two 1989 classics will make their debut on Nintendo's download service today, in the form of Mega Man from the Nintendo Entertainment System and China Warrior from the TurboGrafx.

Anyone who missed out on the seminal '80s classic that is Mega Man, might want to spend the 500 Wii Points (£2.80) needed to download the game for the Wii. The game, which made an icon out of its blue-suited star, has been converted with all six stages intact--all we need now is a conversion of the Mega Drive follow-up, Mega Man: The Wily Wars.

European gamers could be forgiven for missing out on China Warrior, given that the TurboGrafx was only given a limited release in the region. The side-scrolling beat-'em-up featured groundbreaking graphics when it was released in 1989, with a Bruce Lee-like character battling across China to defeat an endless onslaught of enemies. The game features four stages, each composed of three different areas, and it goes on sale for 600 Wii Points this week (£4.20).

These two new titles bring the total number of Virtual Console titles to 103 in Europe.
