Microsoft today announced MechWarrior 4: Black Knight, its upcoming expansion for the mech simulation game MechWarrior 4. The expansion will add a variety of new features to the sci-fi combat game, including new mechs, vehicles, and customization options, as well as a new single-player campaign and a number of new multiplayer modes. In addition, the expansion will add a new black market mode where players can trade to get new parts for their mechs.

The new single-player campaign will let players assume the role of a Black Legion mercenary fighting for House Steiner, one of the factions featured in the game. The new multiplayer modes include absolute attrition, strongholds, siege assault, giant killers, and clan vs. inner sphere.

MechWarrior 4: Black Knight is in development at Cyberlore Studios, the developer that created Majesty and the Warcraft II Expansion Pack. The developer is working closely with Fasa Interactive, the company that created the original MechWarrior games. The expansion pack is scheduled for release this fall.
