While visiting the GameSpot offices, members of the MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf development team revealed that their game will be released earlier than planned. Once slated for a January 2005 ship date, the Xbox-exclusive actioner is now coming in 2004--barely. Microsoft and Day 1 Studios said the game will now be released on December 28, smack-dab in the middle of most people's holiday vacations.

Besides being GameSpot's Best Xbox Game of E3 2004, MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf is the sequel to our 2002 Xbox Game of the Year. It picks up where that one left off, following the next phase of a futuristic war set in the Battletech universe. The game will have an extensive single-player campaign and will introduce a host of new vehicles, including tanks, VTOLs, and BattleArmor. MechAssault 2 will also have plenty of multiplayer action via Xbox Live. GameSpot's latest preview has more on the game.
