Max Payne goes gold

Remedy Entertainment and 3D Realms' third-person shooter is finally complete.

A message on Remedy's official Web site has confirmed that Max Payne is complete and has been sent off for duplication. The announcement comes as no surprise, as 3D Realms made a series of announcements over the past week that the game was nearing completion and should be shipped by July 26. Max Payne is a third-person action game that makes extensive use of a bullet-time effect named shootdodging that slows down the action and lets players take down large groups of enemies in a brief period of time. This special mode also adds a significant amount of cinematic flare to the game, with the camera rotating around Max, other characters, and even the bullets flying through the air. Players have access to an interesting arsenal of weapons including Molotov cocktails, a sawed-off shotgun, a Colt M4A1, and others.

Max Payne is currently scheduled to ship on July 26. For more information on the game, take a look at our previous coverage .
