The DLC packs in three new maps, a new weapon, a new item, a new multiplayer faction, and achievements and trophies.

The three new maps in Max Payne 3's Local Justice DLC are 55th Battalion HQ (playable in all game modes), Imperial Palace, and Departure Lounge, which can be played in the game's deathmatch, team deathmatch, and Payne Killer modes.

Additionally, the Local Justice DLC brings the M4 assault rifle with unspecified attachments, a Light Fingers item for faster looting, and the Sao Paulo Police faction, complete with avatar customization options.

The Local Justice DLC was originally targeted to launch in June, and as an "appreciation of patience," the content will be made available during launch week at a discounted rate of 480 MS points ($6) on Xbox Live and $6 for the PlayStation Network and PC. After this time, the content will return to its normal going rate of 640 MS points ($8) on Xbox Live and $8 on PSN and PC.

The Local Justice Pack--and all other DLC for Max Payne 3--can also be purchased together through the Rockstar Pass program. This pass is currently available for 2400 MS points ($30) on Xbox Live and $30 on PSN and PC.

Rockstar also announced today that on July 3, all preorder and retailer-specific DLC will be made available on Xbox Live and the PSN. The content is also part of the Rockstar Pass and will be available for PC players beginning on July 17. It includes the following:

Cemetery Map: 160 MS points / $2 PSN
Silent Killer Loadout Pack: 160 MS points / $2 PSN
Pill Bottle Item: 80 MS points / $1 PSN
Deadly Force Burst: 80 MS points / $1PSN
Classic Max Payne Character: 80 MS points / $1 PSN

The Local Justice DLC is the first of seven total planned add-on packs for Max Payne 3. Due out sometime this summer will be the Disorganized Crime map pack, the Deathmatch Made in Heaven mode pack, the Hostage Negotiation map pack, and the New York Minute co-op pack. Arriving at to-be-determined dates this fall will be the Painful Memories map pack and the Trickle Down Economics map pack.

Max Payne 3 was released in May to a warm critical reception, shipments of 3 million, and US sales of about 400,000 copies during the month, according to one analyst. For more on the title, check out GameSpot's review.
