Matrix Games and TriSynergy have today announced a development agreement with Playnet and Cornered Rat Software that will see all four companies working on future updates for World War II Online. Originally released back in June 2001, World War II Online is a massively multiplayer online war simulation game that has already been patched and updated several times since launch.

"Playnet and Cornered Rat Software have succeeded in creating the first virtual multiplayer battlefield with thousands of people playing World War II Online every day," said David Heath, director of operations for Matrix Games. "We believe this is an exciting opportunity to participate in the continuing development and enhancement of this massively multiplayer wargame."

"Matrix is known for its expertise in wargames and for excellent support of its developers," said Jim Mesteller, president of Playnet. "We believe this is a perfect fit for World War II Online's future development, which will take the current game to new heights of realism and expand the scope of our massively multiplayer combat."
