Microids has announced that Master Rallye, its latest rally racing game, has gone gold and will be available in stores in early 2002. The game features an open game environment in which following the track is not always the fastest way through the course.

Master Rallye is based on the annual trans-European and -Asian endurance race of the same name, in which any wheeled vehicle can enter, and there is no set track to follow--the object is to get from the starting area to the finish line in the shortest time possible. Most courses in the game are 10-12km in length and 1km in width. The game mechanics are designed to appeal to both casual gamers and experienced rally racing enthusiasts. The cars in the game are modeled with fully independent suspension, adjustable spring and damper rates and bump stops, and realistic collision detection.

Master Rallye was developed by Steel Monkeys, and it will be available in stores in early January for an approximate retail price of $19.99.
