BioWare's big surprise at tomorrow's VGAs may have just been prematurely unveiled. This afternoon, gaming blog Joystiq spotted a listing on the EA Store for Mass Effect 3. The product page, which was rapidly taken down, listed the game as coming to the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

Besides outing the game's platforms, the listing reportedly had a brief description of the capper to the sci-fi role-playing trilogy: "Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race. As Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to take back the Earth."

As of press time, EA reps had not commented on the listing. However, talk of a Mass Effect trilogy has been around since the first installment in 2007, so its existence isn't exactly surprising. It does, however, call into question whether or not a rumored Mass Effect spin-off actually exists or whether or not the VGA teaser may have just been for a multiplayer-enabled Mass Effect 3. Citing a "trusted source," Joystiq believes the latter to be the case.
