Mass Effect 3 challenges hit PlayStation 3

This weekend's "Operation Exorcist" event the first to be open to PS3 users; all future challenges to also be available on Sony platform.

PlayStation 3 Mass Effect 3 users will finally get to try out the role-playing game's weekend Multiplayer Challenges beginning tonight, BioWare announced today on its official website.

PS3 Mass Effect 3 gamers have finally been invited to the party.

This weekend's "Operation Exorcist" event will be the first open to PS3 users, but it won't be the last. All future N7 Weekend Challenges will come to Sony's home console, BioWare said.

Earlier this month, BioWare indicated that Sony had not yet approved the promotion to run on the PS3. Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Challenges are promotional weekend events that have been running since launch for the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game.

"Operation Exorcist" challenges players to survive until extraction on any map on Gold difficulty, and separately to kill 1,000,000 Cerberus Phantoms between this evening at 6 p.m. PDT and April 30 at 5 p.m. PDT. If successful in each endeavor, all players will score a Victory Pack and Commendation Pack, respectively.

Sounds alright, but it would take a while to do that, and Gold match are not easy even if your team is all lv. 20.

Maybe if they'd not gotten all wrapped up in the multiplayer experience they could have provided a more satisfying single player experience.

@Legend002 and let's go play Call of Duty: Milking the Cow Dry. Remember that series? There is a new one every year and it's the same thing. Every. Damn. Game. Yet everyone still buys it up hoping to sate their thirst for a good time only to realize that the games themselves aren't what creates the good time, but people. Being competitive is one thing but unless you actually can kill things WITHOUT aim-assist, you are not good. Multiplayer is alright and I pick it up every once in awhile. Still got plenty to unlock (New race/classes/whatever as well as guns and mods). Still can be fun when done right.

It's already been said that indoctrination theory creates more holes than it solves. It's a brilliant idea though. Shame those writers on $80k salaries couldn't dream it up...

Good to hear, the challenges are the best features for weekend gaming in ME3's multiplayer. That gold run challenge was tough though.

Too little, too late. This game has soured due to poor developmental choices. Price drops and free DLC sound like damage control to me. Butter us up with free stuff that was probably $10 before the negative feedback. Focus on Multiplayer to distance yourselves as far as possible from the Single Player campaign.

SMDFH headlines could be so deceiving

@Legend002 Competitive multiplayer wouldn't fit the game at all. The multiplayer ended up being the best part of the game for me (which is strange since i don't typically play it and have been mostly an RPG player and loved me1 and 2). It's basically horde mode with an addictive weapon upgrade system that has random packs.

It's pretty clear EA was extorting money from them. Look at the horrible port ps3 received compared to ME2. Sony refused to cooperate with the extortion then and they refused with the multiplayer challenges

@Sir_Grakul But most multiplayer have different game modes. This is just blah. There is no competitive aspect to boot. All you do is kill bots. I enjoyed ME3 but the multiplayer is very bland. I can't see why people are still extensively playing but whatever.

@Legend002: That pretty much sums up multiplayer in every game :-P

Who actually still play ME3 multiplayer anyway? It's pretty bad because it is the same s*** over and over again.

No reason why Sony didn't allow it before?

Make indoctrination theory the canon- I can't enjoy the end otherwise- it really bugs me.

Whatever the ending still sucked.

I played the Multiplayer for about 2 days and I really can't see myself picking it back up. I would be gutted if I had purchased an online pass

@PlatinumPaladin Yep. Completing the personal objectives will reward you with a very special tier of N7 weaponry. They're good guns. The community rewards is more for general purpose equipment, but there's not much you can do about that anyway.

Well, this fixes one problem. On to the next one, BioWare.

Sounds like a pretty huge challenge to undertake. Are those two packs really worth it?

Did this actually happen? Or like just about all other GameSpot news, will it be proven completely and utterly false a couple of days from now?

The real challenge is actually playing this piece of crap through to the end.

 @Legend002

I only played it to get the good ending, "Thou it depends on your definition of good" Thou there are those people that all they do is play a games multiplyer have you seen some of the Kill counts for any cod game there just insane.

@LordcrabfoodIt had a good story the end just sucked your best bet would be play all the way up to the end and then dont go into the light. Just stop playing there and you won't have to endure the end.  You will be free to wonder how it ended, free from knowing your choices across three games really meant nothing, free from understanding all the pointless banter about the end.
