Martin St. Louis of the Tampa Bay Lightning will be the cover athlete for ESPN NHL 2K5, ESPN Videogames announced today. Says St. Louis, "It's an honor to be chosen."

After helping his team win the 2004 Stanley Cup, St. Louis was named National Hockey League MVP and awarded the Art Ross Memorial Trophy as the league leader in scoring. He is only the eighth player ever to win the Stanley Cup, MVP, and Art Ross Trophy in the same year.

Developed by Sega's sports studio, Visual Concepts, NHL 2K5 improves over last year's hockey game by adding dirty moves and a new fighting system, refining fake-outs and trick moves, and expanding the franchise mode. ESPN is planning to release the game this September for the Xbox and PlayStation 2. GameSpot skated around with the game at this year's E3--check out our hands-on preview.
