Mario Kart 8 for Wii U lets players upload gameplay directly to YouTube, $330 premium bundle confirmed

Nintendo provides new details on "Mario Kart TV" and officially confirms $330 premium bundle for North America.

Nintendo today provided new details on the "Mario Kart TV" functionality for its upcoming kart racing game Mario Kart 8 for Wii U and confirmed that a $330 premium bundle will be available in North America.

Not only can you watch your highlight racing reels, rewind them, play them in slow motion, or upload them to Miiverse, but you can also upload these clips directly to YouTube from the Wii U. All you'll need to do so is a Google account.

Nintendo has been criticized for lagging behind competitors like Microsoft and Sony with regards to online functionality, but for this feature, Nintendo is actually ahead of the game. Only two weeks ago did Microsoft begin allowing Xbox One owners to upload video clips directly to YouTube, while PlayStation 4 owners don't even have a YouTube app at all available to them.

Also confirmed today was a $330 Mario Kart 8 premium bundle for North America. Previously slated for release in Europe, the bundle includes a Wii U Deluxe system, copy of Mario Kart 8, a red Mario wheel accessory, and a red Mario Wii Remote Plus controller.

Mario Kart 8 launches May 30 exclusively for Wii U. Anyone who buys the standard Mario Kart 8 game will receive another game absolutely free. For more on Mario Kart 8, be sure to watch tons of new video footage from the game.

For those of you who think Wii U is a piece of garbage are wrong and don't know what your saying.  As for PS4 I have not seen a game worth going bananas for and as for Xbox one for me TitanFall and Forza 5. (No I'm not a Fanboy for Microsoft) (Or hating on PS4) Yes Nintendo is struggling because of the Wii U, but I think when Mario Kart 8 and Bayonetta, "X" comes out Wii U will start flying off the shelves. Ohh and come E3 when Nintendo announces the new Zelda game everyone including you will go bananas for. Ohh and the integration of Youtube and Mario Kart is going to be a sell out.

Kids are angry the weakest console is getting the better games. PS2 and DS/3DS all over again.

For all the ugly motherf**kers, Wii U is in the same gen as PS4 and Xbone.

And when you actually think about it, PS4 & Xbone are just beefed up laptops.

HELL I think they are not even stronger than my 5 year old PC.

And when your biggest feature is being more powerful than previous gen (which by the way WiiU is when you compare it to X360,PS3,Wii,NDS and PSP), your feature list is pretty short.

Also like previous gen, when MS and Sony copying BigN with Kinect and Move, they didn't learn anything as they have once again done that with Smartglass and PSVita, without any good support.

THEN some people have the nerve to talk about how online is the way of future, but as it's biggest flagbearer is Call Of Duty, do you imagine in 20 years somebody will play Call Of Duty MW3....NO, they wiil not, whereas people still play Mario64, SmashMelee and other Nintendo games.

In fact you can't replay COD in 20yrs because it's servers will shutdown and all the money you spent for Xbox Live will not matter. Whereas people can play contra even today and for FOREVER.

All I see in MS & Sony's future is MORE AND MORE microtransactions.

60$ game + 10$ to unlock all weapon + 5$ to unlock all costumes + 0.5$ per perk.

For all Iwata bashers, if he hadn't stood up Nintendo would have joined the microtransaction bandwagon.

Lastly to all the fanboy-nazis ( it means all those who try to stop any and every argument by saying "U r a fanboy )

My own phone is an Xperia smartphone and my PC runs Windows 7, so don't bullsh*t me.

Great job Nintendo! Look at all the mad ps4 and Xbox1 owners get pissed that you are actually here to stay and give us great products. Direct to YouTube is awesome! It is the first of many games to start the support of this. I am sure even call of duty on wii u will add a patch to use this so you idiots who has to have blood and guts will get your fix.

Let all the third parties who jumped ship come crawling back and tell them to fly a kite or pay a premium to come back. Nintendo is always a console to have and I will always have one.

This bundle is awesome! I wish I did not already have the zelda wind walker bundle. For $30 more I get two games, a wii mote plus and race wheel! That's just amazing.

Console competition is why we have three companies trying to win us over... We are all different and want different things. Stop being so damn critical when xbox1 won't even release sales!

Really? Who in their right mind would pay 330 dollars for a Wii U? Its inferior to the current gen, and barely better than the last gen. It has a 32 gb harddrive when others are sporting 500 plus. Nintendo still has the worst online capablilities. And even with the one year advantage, the Wii U really doesn't have any stellar games, a bunch of ports.

@locknuts84 What exactly are they doing right? They are basically selling poison to the blind and dumb.

Lol at the negativity at Gamespot. Not just in this article but across the whole site. Nintendo is finally doing something right and people still aren't happy.

Yup, Nintendo offering direct to YouTube is a shocker.

Mario Kart is becoming Nintendo's CoD. How about some Zelda U?!?!?!? That is the ace in the sleeve Nintendo.

Sure you can upload it to youtube, but Nintendo promptly steals your ad revenue.

This is kinda nice and a good move by Nintendo. The Mario kart 8 as the pack in game with a Mario Wii Mote controller and a red Wii Wheel. I guess that is the price of the extra controller and wheel on it's own.

Would have been awesome if Nintendo had made the entire Wii U system in Red as well.

@divinejester @locknuts84  You ugly b*tches don't understand, Nintendo is better then those overheated, overpriced, overated, overexaggerated, so-called "next gen" consoles.

@divinejester Excuse me, royal fool, I would like to know why you are here if you do not like the Wii U? If you don't like it, don't buy it.

metallinatus

@divinejester @locknuts84 Just GTFO, "the Wii U really doesn't have any stellar games, a bunch of ports" you're looking to one "stellar" game right now, one of the many.

You also forgot to mention that Wii U online capabilities doesn't cost you a 100 dollars for month and that you are NOT getting "just" a Wii U for the 330 deal.

@locknuts84  Nintendo has been doing stuff right since 1980. You know what, 1889 when it was a trading card company!

@hystavito Yeah, because improving a product is what evil companies do. They need to be a good company like Sony where they lay off 5000 employees.

@deadpen  Yes, Mario Kart is becoming Nintendo's Call of Duty. That's why there's a new one every year on multiple consoles.

Wait, no. Nintendo has never made more than one Mario Kart for any one console. And the closest any two have ever been released was two years apart, which happened a decade ago with the GBA and Gamecube.

@Megavideogamer  seperately
Wii U = $300

MK8 = $60

Wii Mote= $40(retail, could probably look somewhere else for a better price)

Wheel= $15

Free game= (varied on the game you choose)

All in all you're getting a deal

inkeyis

You also get a free game when you register mario kart 8 in the wii u

deadpen

@BladeManEXE okay you and @Tiwill44  don't get it so I'm going to be way nicer than I should be explaining it to you.

Snes Mario Kart came out in 1992 so after 22 years only having 8 games on the home consoles is a good ratio SOOOOO the frequency of the game's release isn't the point of the comment. The point is this game is starting to be a rehash of a game 2 consoles ago. If you do not understand this...............well fuck it can't get any clearer.

BladeManEXE
BladeManEXE

@deadpen @Metallicwolf29  Alternatively, the $40 controller and cheap accessory which aren't normally included in other bundles increased the price of this bundle by less than their retail price.

el_marto2003
el_marto2003

@deadpen @Metallicwolf29  the price is OK, and if you do the math, It would be a bargain, cause you would be paying $80 for the game, the extra wii mote and the wheel.

@deadpen Just get out of here, monkey-fighter... You're too blind to see that every game in the series is significantly different. Go enjoy your Call of Doodie.

BladeManEXE
BladeManEXE

@deadpen @BladeManEXE @Tiwill44  So, what, it's a rehash because it's part of a series, despite the changes and additions made to the roster, mechanics, courses, and items with each installment? You do know that Mario Kart 8 is adding numerous new characters, mechanics, courses, and items, right? This isn't like they just slapped a new coat of paint on it and called it a day, there are a lot of new and revamped things in the new Mario Kart.

BladeManEXE
BladeManEXE

@deadpen @BladeManEXE @el_marto2003 @Metallicwolf29  Yeah, the math still comes out to getting a controller and shell for less than the retail price by buying the bundle. Having one already doesn't mean it's not cheaper getting it through the bundle than it would be if you were to buy it separately. It may not interest you as much if you already have it, but that's not at all the same thing.

deadpen
deadpen

@BladeManEXE @el_marto2003  @Metallicwolf29 well lets take a tally on this, a real gamer should have already owned the Wii, so an extra controller (and in many cases a few controllers) would be lying around. Then any fan of Mario Kart would have bought Mario Kart Wii WITH the wii wheel. Now take in the fact that the wii controllers work with the Wii U and the wheel would work with it no matter what since it is just a plastic wheel........Well redo the math.

93BlackHawk93
93BlackHawk93

@metallinatus @Thanatos2k@hothtron She's not the first if you include Mario RPGs.

noncasualgamer
noncasualgamer

@Metallicwolf29  Is that somehow expensive to you? There is no way you are typing about videogames here if you haven't already bought a next gen console. So tell me, how has your $500 PS4ONE been treating you? Isn't it weird how you have no games?
